Mini-Series Monday #3
Tee hee! Isn't this just the cutest little block EVER?
She's 1-3/4". Unfinished.
I love this "quiltlet" version if Sweet Pea - 15" square. It just might be my favorite ...
... scalloped edge and all!
Here's the big version. Both were made with scraps from my unruly scrap bin.
I did have a little oopsies with this one, though.
Kay. You know how you need to clean your iron sometimes? (I use a lot of fusible batting & fusible interfacing so my iron gets gummed up regularly.)
But you never remember it's dirty until AFTER you've turned it on and it's hot. So you tell yourself you'll clean it when it cools down and you go ahead and use it ... 'cause, you know ... you hate waiting. And then forget to clean it later. Vicious cycle ensues and the iron gets dirtier and dirtier.
Yeah. That's what happened here. And I paid for it ... dearly. See the ugly black marks on the ribbon? They look worse in real life.
Ugh.
But I'm also a scrapbooker. And scrapbookers know "there are no mistakes, only opportunities for embellishing." Ladies, am I right?
Lucky me, this quilt includes a sweet little bow detail. And it just so happens to hide (most of) the stain.
Yay! (But if you're familiar with this pattern, just you never mind that the bow is supposed to be on the OTHER side. It took me a while to come to terms with this ... necessary modification.)
And check out the itty-bitty FMQ flowers!
Eeeep! :) AND I have a clean iron now too ... for a few days.

Darling little quilt! You can do an emergency hot cleaning by wiping with a new dryer sheet (careful!). Then a wet wipe to make sure everything is off.
It's so cute!! Great job. And tiny, holy cow! My iron gets gunked up too, I feel your pain, good thing it you covered the stain with a bow right? That worked out perfectly.
Very Cute Ms. Pretty! I always clean my iron hot -- I use that iron cleaner by dritz -- just squeeze a bit on a heavy rag and rub away. It's such a thick rag that my fingers don't get close to it.
Oh, I HATE when my iron gets gummed up. Here's a Fons and Porter trick: While the iron is hot, iron a new fabric softner sheet until all the gummy stuff is off. It works AND you do while the iron is hot! ;0
BTW, I LOVE the little quilt. I love the scalloped edge. Hey, that would make a beautiful doll quilt for one of your daughter's little bunnies, teddies, or dolls. ;0
The little quilt is lovely - and I am very envious of the perfect scalloped edge.
Very cute! Great way to hide the oops ;)
So super cute.
All's well that ends well! (And I use a dryer sheet too... just iron it over and over till the grime is gone!)
I've never seen this pattern. Can you tell me the name? It's darling! I'd love to make it for my granddaughter's special doll. And I've no idea what FMQ is.
That little scalloped binding! And everyone's right...this would be an adorable little doll or teddy bear quilt! Thanks everyone for the dryer sheet tip. I just hate when that happens to my iron!
Too sweet for words!! I want one!
Another beautiful job. If my iron is hot and dirty I clean it on some scratchy old towel to get the worst of it off. Good recovery though!!
So overwhelmed by the cuteness of that quilt!! I have to make one now.
That mini is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen!!
I have ran into that problem with my iron too, You came up with a very clever way of hiding the damage. Good Girl.
That is ridiculously cute!! How in the world do you NOT go crazy working with such tiny pieces?
Ah that is cute, I love the edge, very pretty. :)
Re the iron I do that too, only I usually manage to get it on my husband's shirt collar and a pink bow just wouldn't look right sewn on there. ;)

I do see some Paris flea market fabric so I guess it can qualify as a favorite!! Very cute!
So very pretty and the scalloped border is wonderful.
what a perfect little quilt!
My mantra right now....."thou shall not covet." LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this itty bitty beauty. The scalloped border and binding are to die for. You are amazing and I am inspired yet again. LOVE your color preference. I too am a pastel girl. Finding your blog has been one of the highlights of this year for me. If there was a specific pattern you used I would love to know.
It is adorable! And the bow looks great - good idea for (hiding) embellishing certain spots.
Uhhh ... you got me! I'll make my own quiltlet Sweet Pea version soon, promise you. And then I'll send you one little sneak peak picture after another;-)

so pretty. i love the scalloped edge.
Darling quiltlet - love it! The little oops simply adds to the story of the quilt.
Amateur! <g>
That's what one of my friends says every time "we" do something like forget to clean the iron, forget to change the needle position back after changing the presser foot, and so on.
The quilt is beautiful. The embellishment is perfect... you definitely planned it that way. And that scalloped binding? Oh my. It's perfect. As in, the perfect finishing touch and perfectly done.
Love it! Can find the Mary Mary too.
Kristyne,
How on earth did you do the scallop border so flawlessly??? That blows my mind completely!!!
