Coffee Break

Right now I would normally be making a cup of tea, especially on account of the several inches of snow and -16C (3F) temperatures outside my window.  (I won't depress the rest of the world with a picture.)  But I ran out of my favoured Irish Breakfast so instead I thought I'd say hello and show you a little peak of a little something I've been working on.

First, last night I traced this cute little embroidery design I got last year at Quilt Market (and never got around to making).

I need something for the plane and the just-in-case "nothing else to do" moments I might have.

Besides, Natalie has designed "Folktale" featuring these cute hedgehogs

and I'm hoping to snag a FQ bundle.

Also.

I've had these scraps ...

on my sewing table since I made this quilt ...

for the Lecien Quilt Market booth last May.  (Pattern available here.)

So you know how I like to make little things, right?  Well ...

It's almost done.  I'll show you the finished project tomorrow.

Thanks for the break.  Back to work.

So NOT looking forward to minus 16 temperatures! But I know it's inevitable! Kind of glad you were out of tea and you came to give us an update into your creative little world. :)
Can't wait to see a bigger picture of what you made...it looks wonderful, I love the fabrics you used!

Keep warm,
Laurie Anne xx

Ohhhh love all things mini... is that your parlor quilt in miniature??? *LOVE*..... and I really like how you trace your designs for embroidery - the dots are such a great idea! I love snow - probably because we don't get much here in the southwest... loved Lake Tahoe as a kid - I remember wanting to climb out mom and dad''s bedroom balcony and slide all the way down to the street the snow was so high I could have done that....she never would let me. :O) Cold, snowy days make great stitching days. Too bad we don't live closer - I would bring you some tea! :O) Have fun at market - can't wait to see pictures!

Irish Breakfast tea is my favorite too! What is it about hedgehogs that makes them so irresistible? Hope you have some peaceful nothing-else-to-do moments, and a whole lotta fun too!

Would love to see snow pictures - we don't get any here. I probably shouldn't tell you that it's going to be 27c today! Natalie is such a clever designer. Have you met her before? She's a real sweetie. Enjoy Market.

Winter hits you hard there! We are lucky in Vancouver it's just been rainy and around 10*. Your project looks adorable - can't wait to see what it will be.

You make the cutest stuff! I too like how you 'dot' your patterns and am going to start that!! Winter on the Prairies means it is officially quilt season with no guilt!! Start your engines!!

Hi Krystine. I love Natalie's designs too. Those hedgehogs are adorable. It has been in the 80s here, now 68 with rain, going back to 80s this weekend, so I will fantasize about cold weather via your blog. Enjoy Market. Toodles from California...

Hard to believe it will be close to 80 degrees F here in mid-Missouri today - especially for the latter part of October!! Love the CinderberryStitches stuff. I'm currently working on the Tail Feathers blocks. (Our fabulous Sew Sweet Quilt Shop offered it as a BOM, and I chose it as my first attempt at a BOM!) I'm hoping to get it completed this winter. I kind of got sidetracked because I have been making quilts for my new and soon-to-be grandsons LOL.

Mini quilt coming up in the tradition of the Simplify mini's. Can not wait.

You are a hardy woman. Don't know how anyone can handle such cold temps. But then, folks don't understand how those of us who live in a desert can handle the hot temps. Sounds like right about now Ann from Missouri has the best of both worlds!

Thank you for not depressing me with snow pics ... we have all about 10c and that's cold enough for me ... I hate winter and snow.
I love mini quilts, too, mostly because I can't quilt to big quilts with my old sewing machine:-(
Have a great time at quilt market, Hildy
