Wacky Hair Day
May 1, 2012
I don't know if your child's school does this, but mine does ... Wacky Hair Day. The kids love it. Secretly, it's my favorite fun day too ... since my girls and I came up with this idea:
crossing a french braid concept,
with a small collection of Littlest Pet Shop toys.
There are 9 creatures in all. Each one is held in place with a small, clear hair elastic around its neck.
Pretty cool, eh?
Best part is that the hair is out of her face and the animals stay put all day. These pictures were taken AFTER school.
Other best thing is there's no hair spray, glitter, color, gel ... nothing goopy or messy.

I'm glad I'm not in cool mom competition with you. Holy cow this is cute. I am not showing this to my 24 yr old, she'll realize she was robbed on wacky hair day.
Oh my! You are a fun mom!
You are already worshipped by my daughter. If she sees this, you'll be elevated to God status. Very cool idea!! (and yes, we did wacky hair day at Cayla's last school, too, but I didn't think of anything near as nifty as this!)
Oh wow!!! Was there a prize? I bet she won! So cool!! :)

I bet she was the envy of all the other little girls!!! You totally rock, K! :)
Oh. My. We have enough Littlest Pet Shop animals to do about 10 heads. Too bad I don't know how to French braid. My daughter would LOVE this!
That's awesome! There should be a wacky hair day at quilt market LOL. LOVE that little pet Do!
Love Love Love this! My daughters hair was so boring compared to this its genius!
How crazy and cool is this!?! Hope I'll be such a cool mum sometime;-) Hildy
You rock! (but then your girls already know that, huh?) I would have loved wearing that to school as a kid on wacky hair day! SOOOOO cute! I just cannot get over how creative you are at EVERYTHING! :O) I want to be like you when I grow up! Seriously dude! I will tuck this away for ideas for grand kids!!!!
Awesome! We did have a wacky hair day when I was in school. I actually won, but I just put a coat hanger through some braids to look like Pippi Longstocking. There was another girl who must have gotten up really early to string tons of cherrio's on thin strands of her hair.
Haha, so much fun!
Absolutely fabulous. My daughter would have loved that when she was in elementary. She is a teacher now.......wonder if they still do wacky hair day, because if they do I think she should do this and all her students would love it. Kudos to you for being such a fun mom!
Oh, how darn adorable. What a great idea, too.
Too bad my youngest now doesn't have that in high school. Or does she? Mwah!
Will wonders never cease coming from that fertile brain of yours?! What a gorgeous head of hair that precious daughter has. And that's the COOLEST idea ever. Keeping that one in my files for future fun things to do w/my grand-daughters. What a wonderful, fun mom you are. Us grandma's are taking note. ;-)
That is so awesome! Great idea.
Once again, you rock! I would bet the whole classroom and teacher was awed! I sure am. You never fail to inspire! Just adorable, your girls will remember that always!!
Oh, how fun!! I love it!! xo Heather
SUper cute! :-)
I love love love that! Wish I had seen that a few years ago I would have copied you :-)
Wacky hair day? I would take that as an opportunity to just let it be!!! Although my daughter has beautiful great hair, she must have some sensitivity issue because she hates getting it done! She just wants to be Rapunzel (she's 9) and that's a big responsibility (or so I tell her) So a wacky hair day would be my day off, unless of course she gets a wacky hair idea like creatures in your hair LOL!
lol, you would think the weight of all those critters in her hair would be uncomfortable...but hey, what price beauty? ;p
