"With Fabric & Thread" Marigolds and Jam Placemats II
So I started out with this ...
and these ...
and turned them into these.
What do you think? (They've already been laundered ... hence the wrinkled/puckered appearance.)
And they're even reversible!
I forgot to pick fabrics for the "back" but I lucked out with these stripes that came from the same collection as the gingham.
You know, this pattern is a great introduction to scallops if you've never tried them before.
But you want to know the best thing about these pretty placemats?
They're gonna make my cooking taste better ... and my cooking could use all the help it can get!
Speaking of which, where are the takeout menus? Mama deserves a break after all that sewing! LOL!
Or should that read: The family deserves a break from my cooking?
However you want to spin it ... works out for me. :)

I love that! They look so fresh! I'm not big on making placemats but yours definitely inspire me!!
Your place mats are lovely! The fabrics are great and I especially like how you used the gingham for the borders. I recently used the same Susan Branch fabric for some hot pads and now I wish I had enough for place mats! This book has so many cute projects and I decided to start with the pincushions. They are already cut out and I plan on sewing them later today.
Hi Kristyne,
I am sooo jealous of you and your stash! The place mats are perfect, but then I knew they would be. I am praying for your friend B. Take care and have a nice week end.

They turned out absolutely darling! So cheerful and pretty.
Beautiful placemats - as always! You have a real flair Kristyne for putting fabrics together! How do you get things sewn so quickly? What a thoughtful post you wrote about your friend...I hope she will be OK.
Those are beautiful!! You might have embroider initials on the back so the girls don't disagree on who's turn it is to use the blue one! ;p
I hate cooking....and yes, where are those take out menus??!! Spending the day with Lisa and her daughter. Today is lisa's bday so we're celebrating. ;p
Love your stripes in the backs they upgrade your palcemats from justgreat ino absolut great! Have a wonderful weekend, Hildy
Still waiting for my book to arrive! I am thinking it got lost, or they took my money and ran without shipping or something. Getting worried as it should have arrived by now. Love the placemats and the backs!
Those mats are gorgeous! Sheesh, I want to make some too! First the quilt and now the mats. I think I have to order the book :-)
Thank You for the inspiration!
I love Susan's fabric designs. I have some in my fabric stash. Really love the placemats. The scalloped borders are perfect for setting off Susan's fabric colors.

Love your work Kristyne....you are amazing!
My favourite thing...you are so loving and unselfish, I'm sure B is overwhelmed with your generosity! Also, because of you there are people all over the world praying for her recovery. xx
They look really beautiful!
The placemats look great! Praying for your friend.
I just ordered the book from Amazon! Can't wait to get it!
I have the book and love it! Your placemants turned out just wonderful! I am so inmspired to make mine now! We are place mat people! Our DGD always asks me"?Can we pleae eat off from those little quilts?" Your work and fabric selection,as always, outstanding and so lovely! Did you cross hatch or free motion quilt them? Hard to tell, but looks like cross hatch on the body of the placemat, which of course, works perfectly!!!
Please tell your friend we are all praying and pulling for her! I am sure that quilt will lift her spirits so much! Sure so miss you on the weekend.
These are crazy cute!!
Love them! I was thinking about doing something similar, only round. Another project to add to the bucket list!
Just beautiful! i want to make them in the same fabrics you did :)
Having the stripe material matching the checks is great but then that wonderful fabric turning over with the scallops gives the ooh-aah factor. Just hope the family don't take to ordering from the menu they are eating on..... I have never heard of Susan Black before this fabric must go see whether it comes to Oz or where can see her designs & to buy,,,
Thank you for sharing Kristyne - avagoodweegend (Oz talk) and trust your friend B. is being comforted with that wonderful quilt.
These are so adorable and sweet, and I just love the scalloped edging!! xo Heather
I love your blog and love these placemats... it is just the inspiration I needed to get back to quilting! Thanks for posting this and other great posts! Kathi
I love your place mats! I went out and bought this book last weekend, just because of these place mats.
Question
You have me inspired to make these placemats. I ordered the book and it got here in two days! BUT when you use reverse placemats, did you still do the slit thru the whole back to flip it? Please let me know....I want to get started
