same but different

Just working on a few little projects here.

I played around mixing both my Liberty Tana Lawns and Japanese Liberty-inspired prints.  They work so nicely together.

I'm proud of myself for actually using them ... for more than one project even!  Normally I hang on to my prettiest fabrics forever.

I couldn't settle on a top-stitching design, so I did two different ones ... 1/8" on either side of the seams & and cross-hatched.  Still don't know which one I like better.

What an eye candy! Everything you create is so charming and inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing, Kristyne! And I agree - the *genuine* Liberty prints and the Japanese Liberty *looking* prints go along very well together, especially when they are mix-and-matched and quilted by you!

My collection of Liberty of Londons and Tana lawns have been patiently waiting in their beautiful storage box for a few years now just waiting for the perfect project to come along.
They feel so nice when I go through them and refold. A few of them were gifted to me by my daughter following her trip to England. The rest of them were added sliowly as
I came across them. Thank you for your post regarding these lovely prints.

Both of the top stitching versions are beautiful but the 1/8" from the seams version stole my heart. :)

So so love Liberty of London fabrics and love what you've done with them...partial to the cross top stitching.
Kristyne...I was so intrigued with the baby quilt you made from Tanya Whelan's Petal in blue. Could you please post pics of the complete quilt? I would so love to see how you finished it!

Both quilting styles are nice and neither would be wrong. I note that the 1/8 from each seam makes each individual square look more puffy. The cross hatch makes it look more heavily quilted.

Beautiful!! I think that both styles of quilting work well with the fabric and with the squares. Great work, well done!! Thank you for sharing.

Have a super great sewing and stitching day!

Pleased to see those Sajou scissors of 'ours' out on show :)
As usual, inspirational, and now of course I'll have to go and buy some Liberty lawn before I go!!

I absolutely love your fabric choices! I find myself looking for some of the same when I fabric shop now. And the crispness you achieve when you iron your seams is just beautiful to me. While both types of quilting are beautiful, I think I prefer the one that follows the seams, but then again, I tend to be OCD! Love your blog!! And my hat is off to you on the tiny hexes you do. I have a lot of patience, but I haven't been able to even attempt them yet!! Thank you for sharing such pretties!!

You're right, the fabrics went together really nicely. Bravo for being so brave.

I thought I'd like the diagonal stitching but I really like the way the twin lines of stitching makes little "pillows" out of the squares

Whatever you do is just gorgeous, wondering what you are making of course! Actually, the 1/8" stitchjing looks especially good to me. FAbrics really work together.

They are so pretty, as always :)
I think I like the 1/8th along the seams quilting best, but they are both so lovely.
