the farmer took a wife ...

... and then she made a quilt.

These are only a few of the several dozen pictures I took the other day.  But it's the weekend already and I promised you something by now.  I want to write a more thoughtful and detailed post, mostly about the longarming artistry done by my friend (and I'm sure she has a magic wand in her sewing studio too), but I've run out of time.  So please know this is an abbreviated tour of my quilt with yet another promise to show you more next week.

Deal? ;)

Hope you have a good one!

Oh it's so pretty, Kristyne! I'm making one for my mom, in her colours, which are the country hunter greens, burgundies and navy. I'm most of the way done but I've lost so much motivation. If it was like yours, however.... ;). Ok. Must get it over with!!

Hey you! Because I normally read blogs on my phone with one eye open as I fall asleep at night or wake up in the morning, I've gotten really crappy at commenting. But when I saw this, I made a mental note to do one thing-
TELL YOU HOW AAAAAAAMAZING it is!! Amazing, I tell you! Well done!

This truly is an awesome piece of work! Are the colours as vibrant in real life? The aqua just bowls me over but it's that hit of red that feels like a sweet kiss.
This truly is an extraordinary quilt. Be proud, Girlie, you shine!!

Soooo pretty. I love seeing the finished product!
November 22, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSharrieboberry
Your quilt turned out absolutely phenominal. I've been following your progress on it since last spring when I found your blog through Pinterest. Because your blocks were so beautiful, I became interested in the quilt, did some research on the internet and purchased the book so that I can make my own Farmer's Wift Quilt. The history behind this sampler is very interesting as well. I love traditional quilts. You gave it a wonderful interpretation. Congratulations on a gorgeous finish.

Any chance you would be willing to take a picture of each block and put them on Pinterest so that those of us that still need to quilt our quilts could be inspired??
November 22, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAndrea
Absolutely brilliant! Makes me want to finish mine soon
November 22, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterCarla
Beautiful and inspiring. I am making a FWQ too and am using the Fabric line Ruby and while I am loving it, I think I love yours more! Am going to make one for my granddaughter eventually and would love to use these colors. Really fabulous! Ps I married my junior Hugh sweetheart, have three grown daughters and a granddaughter who loves to be with grandma in my sewing room.

breathtakingly gorgeous! I'm not a quilter but the beauty of this makes me wish I was! I'd love to know the fabrics used & can't wait to see more details!

Kristyne, this is the most beautiful quilt I have ever seen! I am speechless!!
November 23, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterellis&higgs
Wow, that is amazing! It is beautiful, and the quilting is wonderful, in places it looks like handquilting. Lovely! Maybe one day, I'll find the courage to start my own version, although I'd be tempted to copy yours, so I'd be sure to have a beautiful end product. But first I have to finish about a dozen other WIPs...
November 23, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterSaartje
What a gorgeous quilt, I've been watching the blocks grow and it's grown into a beautiful quilt... the farmers wife should be extremely pleased with herself.
November 23, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJules

It's awesome! Great quilting too!
November 24, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterDonna
Oh so BEAUTIFUL! I have really enjoyed watching your quilt grow since you started this project. It is so lovely, and you have every reason to admire it and photograph it all day long!
I have about 10 blocks to make for my own version, and then of course, sashing and assembly. My goal is to be finished before the year ends and then send it out for quilting.
