Working on Wanda

I can't remember the last time I was so excited about a "just make it up as I go along" project.

After MUCH deliberation I finally settled on this oblong hexagon for the patchwork.

Want to know how I came to choose it?  Tee hee ... because this is a Halloween project and this shape reminds me of a coffin.  I hope you don't think that's morbid.  I thought it was funny.  Besides, how can you possibly take a pink polka dotted coffin seriously?  LOL!

Remember I started with these Fig Tree "Patisserie" scraps?

After cutting out a bunch of hexies, I realized I didn't have enough variety to make the patchwork really scrappy, so I added a few more Fig Tree fabrics, like this gray/brown from "Strawberry Fields" because it goes so well with Wanda's hat (which delights me to no end),

and a few other "Mill House Inn" prints I have hanging around.

I'm also very happy with this little trim.  I didn't want to go over-the-top girly with lace, so I buried most of it in the seam allowance.

Get it?

Buried?

Coffin?

Halloween?

Sorry.  This is how I entertain myself. ;)

Makes sense to me!!! Actually, that's one of the things I love about these projects...the details! I can't wait to see how this turns out!

Sounds logically to me;-) And of course, you'll find a way to throw some Strawberry Fields in, too. I think it's the best Fig Tree collection ever ... don't you? Hildy

If you're morbid then I am, too, because I think your coffin-hexies are hilarious!

Your "coffins" look like they are English paper pieces. I was ordering a few items on line and they do call them coffins--lol funny! I KNEW you would come up with a wickedly cute design! Can't wait to see the finish.

BTW I just LOVED your strawberries. Can't wait to get a few things finished to try some (since there are three quilt tops on the family room rug and coffee table I've been trying to finish up first)--yea, like that would stop me. Cuteness never keeps me from starting more than I can finish. I guess that's why I embroider at long stop lights on my way to volunteer at school. People think I'm weird, but I get in quite a bit in a week and I don't get antsy while I'm waiting.

I LOVE it. I love the fabrics you've chosen and I love your stitching too. Can I ask you a couple of questions please? First one is where did you get the Wanda pattern from please? The second question is where did you get the oblong hexies from please? You are just so talented and I am so in awe. Plus you are FUNNY!

Love your sense of humor! I must be morbid also because those are lovely little coffins! I am sure that Wanda is going to be thrilled with her new home. Can't wait to see it.
