they all fall down

Just like they do, every year without fail.

Time to break out the chainsaw and safety goggles.

OMG, I love Holly Hocks and have a hell of a time trying to grow them. When I was younger we lived on a farm and our driveway fence line was just a row of Holly Hocks. So jealous and happy at the same time for your. Plus, the deer here eat them all the way down to the ground.

... but they'll come back next year. Also then to someone else because you'll be at your new house (hopefully).

Nooooooo. At least you'll always have those pretty photos to remind you of your floral friends. And soon you'll have a whole new space to plant!

Chainsaw, indeed. This all-falll-down garden is a sure sign of autumn ... and crisp/cozy days to come.

The reason they fall down is because there is nothing in front of them to support them. If you plant shorter plants in front of it, then do a gradual grading of the flowers from then on, then the holly hocks have a good chance of staying up. I used to have hollyhocks too, and they'd fall down unless you had something to keep it from falling down. Oh well........ enjoy them while they last! ;-)
