my little geese satchel had a baby ...

and holy moly is she ever cute!!!

I couldn't help myself.  I just had to make her.

Funny story.  When I finished making it, the first thing I did was show it to my 12 year old, thinking she would be as excited about it as I was.  Her response ... mmmm ... not what I expected.  She just looked at me and said, in her best oh-so-unimpressed-12-year-old-style, "But what good is it?  What does it do?  What's the point of it?"  (Bless her sweet little heart, right?  Don't worry, I didn't ground her or anything.)

I know you - dear reader - get that making things is more often about the making, and not its function (although when the two meet, it's a bonus).  But she got me thinking.  Hmmm.  I wonder if I could use this teeny tiny little 3" x 4" x 1/2" purse for something.  So I went back to my sewing room and found the perfect thing ... my business cards!  BAM!  I marched back down the stairs and triumphantly displayed to said child that my newest creation had a purpose in life.  :)

We laughed.  And I think she was impressed after all.

I hope your initial thoughts are maybe just a little more enthusiastic, and that it makes you smile.

I'm particularly pleased with the embroidery stitches that simulate the lace I used on the mama version.  And in case you're wondering, the geese are 1/2" tall and 5/8" wide.  Eeeep! :)

PS:  Yes I painted my nails red for this photo shoot.  LOL!

I particularly like the "lace" embroidery as well. I will have to remember that idea for baby and toddler clothes and for wallets.

I am beyond impressed! All my life I've been enamored with the teensy, but even these wee geese are, well, wee. Too darn cute for words and what a wonderful 'purpose'. Although, quite frankly, I have never felt such a need ;)

I made my niece a stuffed doll family specifically so I would have excuses to sew tiny things.

Sometimes, even the Cool Aunt has ulterior motives!

Well congratulations. The new baby is just adorable!! Now here's a challenge for you. How about a small bag, oh say about 4.5" or 5" in height, 2" width and 6" long. Just big enough to hold a smart phone, cash, lip balm, small hand cream and credit/health cards. Zipper top with at least one outside pocket. I have purchased (oh the embarrassment) 5 bags from Amazon because I can find nothing that small at local stores. Nothing even remotely close to what I'm looking for. I think it must be rocket science but no, can't be. I'm searching for a little cross body bag pattern I can scale down or change but I have to admit, not my skill set. Running out of options though.

I've been on vacation and am just now catching up. LOVE the tiny tote! My first thought was to use it to hold individually wrapped tea bags, either to take on vacation (which I did) or to give as a gift. Then I thought it would be good to put lip balm or gloss and maybe those tiny bottles of nail polish in as a gift for a tween. Then I thought of my daughter's contact lens case and the travel size bottle of solution she carries with her. I bet they would fit perfectly and would be so much easier to find in her large bag. Last, but not least, I thought how perfect it would be for those of us who still enjoy dolls. Every doll needs her own special tote after all. Whoever said bigger is better needs to see your little tote:-)!
