« paperie blog tour! | Main | new pattern - just in time for the new year »

you know I had to do this sooner or later, right?

So depending on your point of view, I'm either "later" as in Christmas is SO over already, or I'm "sooner" as in Christmas is still another 11 1/2 months away!  LOL!

I actually had this finished before Christmas, it just took me this long to show you.  (The short daylight hours of winter here in the Great White North known as Canada are NOT my favourite thing.)

I don't have a ton to say about this version ... you already know how I feel about pink.  I made this one a bit smaller - it doesn't have a border because I opted for a lace trim instead.

And that little ribbon/lace/button addition in the top left corner?  Uh, that is there to hide a little oopsies.  My cutting table was (is) a bit of a disaster and it seems I accidentally ran my rotary cutter into the fabric by an inch and a bit.  So that little embellishment is more of a bandage than an intentional design detail.  But works.  And it makes me giggle.

Hope your New Year is off to a good start!

Of course you had to do this;-) Love your little oopsie it's perfect and I totally intend to do this next time I make something small (but I hope I don't accidentally cut into my fabric).

So very very cute! I still have Christmas gifts I'm trying to finish so I like the idea of being early for 2016😉

I did exactly the same oops with a gift card holder. Sliced the corner right off! It did motivate me to straighten out my sewing table so that was a good thing. Now I have an idea for fixing it...thanks!

That's gorgeous! I love the color combo- this may sound silly but I don't know how to make a lacey border like that! Any chance u could give a mini- tutorial?

Love this in soft pink with the lace border - and the special lace button 'flag'. It is so, so pretty! Happy New Year Kristyne! We're in deep freeze right now here too :)!

I am so glad you mentioned the little bandage. It is just a charming solution to that little problem. I'm pretty sure that is how applique was invented. You should make up a very fancy word for this! Like maybe "oopslice" or "accicutalique." Lol. I like the way it adds character to that area.

We spread Christmas over a 12 day time period. That means that today is our last day of Christmas, so you're neither early nor late. I'd say you're right on time where we're concerned. Besides, we could look at those sweet little hats as party hats for some special little (or big) girl's birthday party. You've given us a very versatile project here , and I thank you.

Your details continue to be amazing. The banner is the best "patch" you could have put on! I love that you let the "mistake" become a success!
