I'm really happy about this news.  Akemi Shibata's book is finally available in English and I happen to have a spare copy to give away.  Zakkaworkshop kindly asked me to help as one of the English editors and I'm really proud to have been involved in bringing this lovely book to the English-speaking part of the world.  It has so many beautiful and fun projects.  I've already made two (including the coolest bag I've ever made ;) and I plan to make more cute things.

I have two favorite seasons. First of all, for the first twenty five years of my life I lived in Missouri. There I loved the fall. It was starting to cool off from the hot summers and the fall colors always left me breathless. I moved to south Florida and lived there for the next 35 years and although Florida has a lot going for it, there was no change of seasons and I always missed that. I now live in Texas and have discovered the Spring is now my favorite season. It's still cool enough that you can enjoy being outdoors, before the heat of the summer arrrives. Also the flowers are all in bloom, the grass is green, the birds are fluttering around picking up sticks and grass to build their nests,the animals are venturing out with their babies and there is a feeling of freshness and newness everywhere. Maybe it's due to my age, that I see things differently .I always try to make it back to Missouri during the fall to enjoy the changes there. They don't have the fall colors here in Texas, the way they do there.

I have two. I like Spring and Fall when you don't need the heater or the air conditioner. The windows are open and the delta breeze comes through. I like the beginning of spring when my 20 rose bushes (my last name used to be Penrose) first bloom, they're so beautiful like no other time of the year. Fall makes me happy because of Halloween even though I personally don't hand out candy anymore because years ago my nieghbors robbed my house right before my favorite holiday and I wasn't about to give them candy too.
