happy flower qal week 13

This week's original block has a super large - and very dark - green plaid.  I did my best to find something similar in my stash.  Not nearly as large and not nearly as dark.  And I'm super ok with that!  LOL! (And yes my yellow/blue triangles are reversed ... by accident, not on purpose ... but I don't think it matters in the least.)

Original Block # 25

I think this little love bird is one of my favourite applique blocks in the quilt.  Simple, sweet, and charming.  In case you didn't know, Lecien has a cheater panel with blocks from this quilt.  I literally cut this birdie out of the cheater block and appliqued it onto my background. And that thin Tilda stripe ... home runs all around for that print!

Beautiful blocks!! Love the strawberry fussy-cut center and the cute bird with the heart!

Loooove your blocks! Using the bird from the cheater was a brilliant way to go! Your fabric combinations are always so pleasing...

Where do you find your photos of the original finished block? I know some of them are pictured in the Japanese version (I bought it several years ago!) but not all of them are.

Hi Sharrie, World Book Media is the company that published this English translation and they hired me as a technical editor for this book. I asked them to send me all these little photos of the original blocks because I too have owned the original for many years and always wished that I could see all the original blocks close up to study and enjoy the fabrics. I figured there must be other people who are as curious as I am about these things so this is the best I could do for us. The images aren't very good quality, which is why I have to make them so small. I believe they were given a photo of the original quilt.

Cheers! Kristyne
