Mini-Series Monday #6
Sugar Rush. YUM!
And may I just say what a lovely coincidence it is that this post follows my Sugar Sugar Market Bag post! One might even accuse me of planning it that way. ;) (Actually, it really was a coincidence.)
Ok. Truth? I pieced this 14" x 19-1/2" quiltlet top together ...
BEFORE I made this bag.
In fact, it was the quiltlet that gave me the IDEA for the bag.
These stripes are 5/8" wide, finished.
But I waited until I could do some seriously cute flower FMQing to finish it. I kinda felt like I was making eyelet with those tiny little flower! Love them.
However, life wasn't all sweet with this quiltlet. While working on my newly acquired FMQing I decided to use a "washable" - in quotation marks - fabric pen to help me sew a nicely proportioned flower. Well, that disappearing ink pen did NOT live up to it's end of the bargain. It left a blue mark right in the middle of the flower. (It looks worse in real life.)
No worries, though. I just cut out another flower center and appliqued it right on top! You can't keep this quilter down for long. ;)
The back was almost as fun as the front - albeit a little bit wonky-doodley.
Next Monday is Halloween so I have a "Holiday Special" of sorts planned for you.
Boo!

That's really sugar for the eyes:-) And these 'washable' pens can be tricky and also have my stories with these. Now I'm sticking to pencils (don't know if this is really better).

Another stinkin' cute quiltlet!!! Dagnabbit woman you are amazing! :-)
No washable or disappearing ink pens for me - no trust here!
Your little quilts make me so happy!
So cute. I just love your blog and your style. I'm trying to get up the nerve to FMQ. You are an inspiration. Appreciate your honesty and taking us on your journey.
Sweet as sugar!!! Love it! And the gorgeous bag that it inspired! Amazed at the little bitty fmq-ing. You rock, Kristyne! :)

Eeeek gads!!!....that is so darn cute. I just recently came across your blog and your posts make me smile daily.....thanks!!
The only washout marker I ever have burn me was a pink Clover brand chalk. CLOVER??!! Man, it hurt. ;0
Um, love the little quilty and I let out a little scream when I saw the taupe block!! I love it....what are you up to Miss SHQC? Trick or treat! ;0
Have an awesome time in Houston.
This fabric just makes me smile - what a beautiful quilt!!
Another gorgeous little quilt - I no longer use those pens, after having a nasty experience of one that just wouldn't wash out!
have a wonderful tiem in Houston!!
That little quiltlet is adorable - and what a great idea for the style of the bag! I can picture it in my mind in so many color options. I've had problems with those "washable" markers also, so now I stick to chalk or pencils that I know will wash out. But how annoying! Can't wait to see what next Monday's mini project will be....enjoy your day.
Just catching up on all your super sweet goodness that is you! I'm especially lovin' this little quilt, and that bond we share over your big version of it. Everything you touch turns to happiness - I'm oohing and ahhing over all the pretties you've made. Sad I won't be going to market and I won't be able to see you, and have a blast!!! XXOO

1) SOOOO very jealous that you get to go to Market!!
2) LOVE the bag - of course!
3) Love the quilt, so glad it's going to be all over the world showing off how amazing you are!
4) Tooooootally in love with the mini sugar rush - and so very glad that your back is wonky.....so very encouraging :-)
Missed you so very much, & I promise not to let my computer run off again.
Very sweet once again! I love your use of color and creative ways to add applique. Thanks for sharing- K-
Enjoy reading your posts and seeing all the wonderful quits etc you create. I particularly like the blue and white dot fabric you have used in the bag and little quilt in the edge border, but I don't seem to be able to find it in the quilt shops. Do you know what the fabric is? I assume it is a Lecien but correct me if I am wrong. Also if you know the line and any details would be appreciated. Kathy
Oooh very pretty!! I absolutely adore the scallops!
Wonderful little quiltlet! I am loving these! You really have an eye for design! I love the pieced backs too,I have never done that..much more interesting. Looking forward to pictures from market and you telling us all about it!
Too COOL for words, especially the "designer tag" :)
Very sweet little piece of sugar. Glad to see that even a non-disappearing marker can't keep you down for long.

So sweet!
That is so cute! OMG! That would look so sweet on a baby doll bed for a little girl don’t you think? I haven’t used the marking pens, and I think I will continue to not use them :) Good job covering it up.
