Felt Christmas Tree

There just aren't adequate words in the English language to describe exactly how I feel about crafting.  When I poured all these sparkly, colorful beads & sequins onto the saucer my heart skipped a beat.  Seriously.  I may have even squealed out loud a little.

It's all just so ... so PRETTY!!!

Making things - especially pretty things for people I love - makes me really happy.

Major bonus when whatever it is turns out even better than I'd hoped! :)

The idea for this little ad-libbed 2011 label just came to me at the last minute.   All it took was a piece of unbleached muslin, pinking shears and a fine-tipped marker.

My husband said it looks like a price tag ... I nearly clocked him one.  He's also the same guy who thought this was a placemat.  See what I have to live with?  ;)

But now I need your advice ... to bow or not to bow?  That is the question.

What do you think?  I'll go with marjority rules as of bedtime tonite.

Pattern available here.

Yes, tiny bow! Love it and the not so traditional colors. And, I for one, like the "price tag!" What a fun way to keep track of each year's ornaments. Good job, as always, rockstar!

well... i think a bow would be lovely, BUT i do think a soft white or ivory ribbon would look especially lovely. as always love your work.

How cute is that tree?!! My husband would have said the same thing about the price tag... so annoying, but that's why we love them, right? I like the bow it's like the star or angel on top.

this is so so lovely. i vote no bow...no extra sweetness required.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJenny

I vote for bow. It is beautiful!!!

No bow...but perhaps a little star? And I blame you that now I sing 'price tag' all day long;-)

No bow -- I'm opting for simplicity. I totally get your little fit of squeals of delight.

I vote pro-bow! It turned out soooo sweet! I was at Out of Hand yesterday, drooling over all their projects. All at once I wanted to make a quilt, a Teddy Bear and hook an ornament. Love that store! I settled on my block of the month wool Christmas quilt (for xmas 2012 lol).

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAndrea

definitely bow, very cute!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterjennifer

My vote is for no bow. I also like the idea of ivory instead of red ribbon.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered Commentermarcella

No bow. Totally cute without it!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterColette

I would go with the bow!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMarie

Very pretty! No bow. I like the beads and the sequins. Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJoan

No bow - it so simply sweet.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTynacious

I say yes to the bow! And I LOVE the label idea, you'll always know when it was mamde - I love, love that!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSandra

love the bow...and I'm usually a plain, simple jane...but the tiny bow is perfect.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLisa Q

Absolutely bow! Very pretty!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSharon (Michigan)

I vote for the bow! It looks sooo cute with it :)

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterChiki

Soooooo beautiful! Bow, definitely!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSylvia

Love it, and I love the bow:)

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterJeanie

I like the idea of no bow on a cream ribbon that some other readers mentioned. And the reason is that I'm thinking ahead - will you want a red bow on the house and reindeer ornaments? And I love the dated label!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered Commentergreg

I vote no bow! I love the simplicity as is! And it feels more like an outdoor evergreen glistening in the snow without it. (Yes, there I go with the snow again!) It is fabulous!!! Can't wait to see the rest of them! :)

1) artists are always misunderstood by the general population(husbands)

2) i would put a little sparkly at top to make it look like there is a star at the top of the tree

Well done ya little rock star! ;0

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterina

No bow......yes, clock your husband! :-)

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBrooke

Definitely "to bow"!! That little tree is adorable. Kind of reminds me that I should hop on my felt advent calendar (with 25 mini felt ornaments) if my kids want to see it before 2015...

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMelanie

No bow........let the tree shine!! I love the 2011 tag. Men will be men!! That is why we need our girl friends.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKristy

I love it! Too adorable. I'd say no bow.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

I felt the same way when I poured out the beads for my baubles! I don't often bead so it's really a joy when I have something beautiful to make.

My vote is YES! I think the bow takes the place of the star at the top. If you really can't decide and like it both with and without, you can make one of each!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered Commentermary

If it were for me, I would put the bow on it. If you are making it for your husband....maybe no bow. Honestly, I would probably still do the bow and tell him it's to remind him of how you decorate his life. =)

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterRebecca S.

To bow or not to bow that is the question.....love the bow, makes it the cutest tree ever.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterDenise S.

I love that tree, without the bow!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterNicky

I would vote for no bow and I really like the suggestion of a ivory colored ribbon, it would match the little beads. This has me wanting to make some ornaments, it's so easy to buy them, but homemade is much more special.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterValerie

That is so gorgeous - did you design it? I vote for bow.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKate

every tree needs a topper...so I vote for a bow! merry christmas...

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterBianca

I wouldn't have the bow - I would have a star-shaped button (ok, that wasn't an option, but it's what I would do!!) Check out today's (Thursday's) post, about my visit to my friend's fabulous new quilt shop!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterfrayedattheedge

I think the bow is very cute. That is the way I would go.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterGreta

Love the ornament. It's nice both ways but I vote for no bow if I have to pick.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterTeresa

Bow! :)

So gorgeous. I think many of us have husbands/partners who think along the same lines as your husband. I understand your bow dilemma - I'm not sure - looks cute either way.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered Commenterlynda

Either or....it's cute both ways. :D

Adorable tree and the date on it is priceless. What a neat idea. (adds another idea into already stuffed full mind).

I cannot wait to see the rest of them.

You do good work.

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKristen

Definitely BOW! TOo cute. I think I squealed when I saw them, too! :P

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSandy A in St. Louis

Bow. Definitely!

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMary L.

I'm voting for a bow as well (and cream ribbon).

December 15, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLisa

Bow!
