Project Simplify - Day 6

All right, is everyone ready for Chapter 2?  Let's go!

I made this quilt several weeks ago for my friend’s fundraiser and I have to say I don’t mind one little bit making it again ...

... this time using girly fabrics!  The Lizzie Collection by Anna Griffin

I bought this adorable FQ bundle – on impulse – at Quilt Market Minneapolis 2010 Sample Spree with my younger daughter in mind (let’s just all admit that ANY Sample Spree purchase is impulse!)

I've already used some of the fat quarters - she chose them for this year’s backpack (and of course she took all the pinks!).  But I still have plenty of fabric to work with here.

Since I don’t have any full yardage from this fabric line I’m adding a pink - Simplicity by 3 Sisters - for the background.  I’ve had it for about 3 years.  And I'll need to be a little resourceful for the borders (I have an easy solution for those).

I really love this pink and am feeling just ever so slightly panicked about using it ‘cause, you know, I only have like maybe 5 metres or so left … (give your head a shake, girl!  Not like there will never be another pretty pink fabric made ever again!!)

One last thing - I have a little idea floating around in my head involving these yummy trims.  If you're at all familiar with Camille's designs you will know where I'm going with it ... :)

Oh my goodness.....love this group of fabrics! I think you will have another beautiful quilt when this is done. And I love the pink also and would be thinking the exact same thing you are thinking.......

It's going to be awesome!! I still have some Simplicity that I'm saving [hoarding] for a special project. I'm excited to see it in progress!!

You're so funny. Oh how I could relate to this post -- from sample spree impulse buys (including THAT exact pack at the same market LOL) to panic at the thought of cutting into a pretty fabric. Boy, what a pretty quilt this is going to be!

I am the same way about letting go of fabric for some reason - it's like it takes on a personality all of it's own. I get used to seeing things in my fabric stash that remind me of people or places or that trip I took etc....It's always sad to sad goodbye but rewarding all the same : )

I think all quilters are the same - we get out a fabric to use ...... then say it is much too pretty to cut up!!

I can't wait to see the final result!! This is so much fun!
I am exactly the same, I have fabric that I do not want to use because it is so pretty. Why would that be?

By the way, love the bag pack!

Cannot wait to see this project - it will be gorgeous - just like you!!! xxx

I'm the same with yarn, I have a drawer full of yarn I won't use because if I do, it will be gone and I don't want it to be gone!!! :)

Beautiful fabrics, it will look wonderful. Question for you, where did you get the large rolls of ric rac???? have been looking for those colors and the local quilt shops here don't have them.

Ya let me know how the cake turns out with gluten free flour - I bet it will be really good : ) My aunt is very trusting with her locks! There is no way, now how I would let a kid cut my hair!! I would be scared stiff ; ) I have super thick natural curls and have had plenty of bad haircuts in my day. I suppose if I didn't look like a complete idiot with short hair I might let my kid niece do it but my hair takes forever to grow out. I've been growing it out for 4 years now after a bad haircut! Long story I won't bore you - lol

I love pink! I have just a small amount; lots of outdoor fabric though. This looks like a nice pattern. I think I need to get this book and I really look forward to this pretty, feminine quilt.
