Farmer's Wife Quilt Along Week 10

Classic Blue & White.

#3 - Basket

I love love love how this block turned out, even though the handle ended up a little crooked ... grrr ... (but I'm not redoing it!).

Now, you can either laugh at me for feel sorry for me.  I laugh at myself all the time.  But this is how I think ...

The gingham square in the middle of the basket is SUPPOSED to be white.  But I couldn't do that because to me it makes the basket look like it has a great big hole ... and then whatever you put IN the basket will just FALL OUT and get lost or broken.

That totally stresses me out.

Is that weird?  Does your brain work like that too? Or should I be seeking professional help?

#83 - Spider Web

I wanna meet the spider who lives here.  I bet she's really nice.  And pretty.  And I bet she'd invite me over for tea.  And she'd set out her best china cups.  And have pretty embroidered napkins and cupcakes with frosting.  And cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off.  And little sterling silver engraved family heirloom teaspoons that she freshly polished just for my visit.

Wait, no.

I think the spider who lives here makes sure the silver is ALWAYS polished, just in case.

She's very tidy and organized.

Like Martha Stewart.

What?

Too far gone for therapy?

If you need therapy I need therapy too;-) I love your fabrics, your colors and the way to build yozr stories around your blocks. I can totally see your little spider, you should write a book about her. And your basket is so cute even with or especially because of the handle.
Oh and I have a great idea what you can do after project simplify is finished something like a project simplify 1.2. But hey I 'll tell you when your finished;-)

This post SO made me smile! :) I LOVE your logic on the white hole in the basket, AND you used gingham!!! Could NOT be better! And as for the spider's tea party in the spider web, could you get me an invitation?! ;)

K., your outlook on life is therapy enough! :) The blocks are gorgeous as usual!

Please, don't look for therapy. You'd better spend your money on fabric! And I love your basket!

Martha Stewart sucks you in just like a spider does - and the more you resist, the more you're caught up in hand making place cards and cooking bread from scratch. See...it all starts with one little block!

I love how coming here makes me smile, and not just because of the pretty sewing :)

The blocks look great. And your thinking is sound, to my way of thinking.

I think you need a tuffet! I Still love your fabrics!!!

No therapy required - because if you needed therapy, there would be no hope for me!! I sometimes embroider a litlle silver spider's web on applique blocks (but not the spider). Last summer, I had a very large spider living in my bathroom - but she never invited me to tea (but she did freak out my friends!!)

Great post! I really like the blocks too, and since this is the first time I've visited your blog, I see I'm going to have to sit down and visit your past posts for a while.

Have wanted to comment soooo many times while reading through your blog but restrained myself thinking I would make an overall comment when I finished the whole thing. Then I saw this spider's web. Un - flipping - believable. When I was quilting my friend and I talked about "ballerina ironing" using the very tip of the iron on our tiny little 1 by 1 squares. Now I think we don't know nothing about ballerina ironing when I see the teeny tiny pieces you are using. Absolutely amazing. I am going to send your blog to my quilting partner so she too can admire your brilliance!!

my great-nephew, age 9, would like a quilt with a spider's web on it. I believe he wants one really large web, but I would like to show him the effect of your design. May I download a copy of your spider web block to show him how if would line up if the quilt had numerous webs?

thank you in advance; holding still

P.S. I must show your blog to my husband who thinks my daughter-in-law and I are crazy because we say our toes talk to us. (He fails to see the humor in our conversations.) Meanwhile, I love the idea of a tea party with the spider. Best wishes, but remember "Come into my parlor," said the spider to the fly. :-)

Absolutely LOVE your blog, just found it and am enjoying scrolling back. I am so happy you are a perfectionist because I love seeing all your points match up and all your small blocks looking so flat and sharp. I'd so love to see a post about what your tips and tricks are to smaller blocks like the ones in the Farmer's Wife series. Do you starch? What size needle, thread? etc! Thanks for sharing your awesomeness and love reading your commentaries...you crack me up! Thanks
again :)
