Mystery Block of the Month 10
April 12, 2012
Ok. This is DEFINITELY my favorite block so far in this project.
Just LOOK at it! So cute.
I admit to fussy cutting the red floral. I didn't want big blank spaces of solid red. There are still a few "bald spots". But overall I got the look I was going for ... very flowery/blossomy.
And the polka dots in the corners? Love.
Designed by Gudrun Erla of GE Quilt Designs.
She's from Iceland, you know! I think that is ... SUPER COOL. Cool as in totally awesome, not as in polar bears & frostbite.

The block is beautiful! And your fussy cutting really was worth it. Those roses frame the rest so nicely in a bigger flower. Nice!
Yes, that's really the most beautiful block so far! I love this pink-red-grey-white combination. How about this color combo in your next FWQAL blocks?

I think it is cool as in a Bjork kinda cool! Very pretty...as always. ;p
Agreed. This is my favorite block you've shown so far, too! Love how you engineered the fussy cutting of all those pieces! I have been shying away from using a busy print with some blank spaces and now that I see this - if I just have a bit extra fabric - fussy cutting works wonderfully! :O) Great job! Love this quilt, too! Ok, let's be honest - I love everything you show! You inspire me! ;O) (are you having tea in a nice cup and saucer? It's really ok, you know, to use your nice things! :O)
Yup, this is the best block so far! And dontcha love how there aren't any outer points that need to be pointy?!
Although if she from Iceland I suspect she maybe 'cool' in the other respect too!
Gorgeous block, beautifully made as always.
Happy weekend Kristyne,

I agree - this is my favorite block so far. Just love the colors in it.
It's a gorgeous block - the fussy cutting works wonderfully!
I love this block also! I love the polka does, the small print, heck, I love the big print too!! Your blocks are so precise and your embroidery is perfect! I would like to ask - what kind of a camera do you have? I love the pictures you take and since I am in the market for a new camera, I am interested in what you use and how you take your photos.
Ah!!! You get it!!! Red quilting fabric...it's a thing of beauty! ;)
Where do I find these Mystery Block Patterns? They are fabulous.
Like everyone else, I think this block is most wonderful!
Hi Michelle,

It started May 2011. I don't know if they have any kits left.
This is Beautiful! I really enjoy your blog, thank you for posting and sharing:)
I'm curious. Your blog post says it is posted at 7 am on April 12. I just got your post at 7 pm on April 15. And I always get your posts on the day you do them, but not until 6-7 pm. Do you know why that would be?
Krystyne, that red on point sqyare with white spotted taupe around then the tiny spots & rosebuds then blossomming to full blown (skilfully cut) full-blown roses then white real white and the echoing with red corner spots. Wowee. A jewel.
I have never tried a mystery quilt have too many anxious moments/minutes/hours but this is good. The Beatles song "Strawberry Fields Forever" is burbling along.
Looking forward to the next - bet you can't top this one.............LOL Susan
