Farmer's Wife Quilt Along Week 46
Pink, Green, Gray & White
This color combination came about as a .. well ... like this:
#36 - Flower Garden Path
When I read the name of this block my poor brain went literal. The main detail in the block is the big X - presumably the path made of grass. Then I saw beautiful stone benches one sees in romantic, French, palatial gardens. You know, like Versaille. So my garden has 4 benches.
And then what color flowers? "Pink", said Queen of the Obvious.
I love the light and airy feel of this garden ... no dirt, bugs or worms anywhere. :)
#98 - Waterwheel
I'm starting to feel a little restricted by my "two blocks with the same colors" approach. With only about 20 blocks left my color format is becoming ... tedious. I may have to let that go soon.
However, I managed to make a mate for the above with this block.
At first I was a little disappointed. Didn't like the fussy cut flowers in the middle. And didn't think the contrast between the gray & green was strong enough.
But then my feelings moved from disappointment to indifference to possibly a hint of like. Whatever the reason, this block is growing on me.

No suprise here, I love your blocks! What a totally love about your blocks is that you have a story behind the block everytime. The story behind waterwheel? How a bout that? The green and blue are for the water, the grey is the wheel and pink is for the flowers which grow next to the creek:-) Hope you like my story!

I think it turned out beautifully! You'll like them when they all go together...if not, you know where I live. The front door reads: "Kivascout's Home for Unwed Quilt Blocks Regected by Their Mean Mums"
In tiny script at the bottom: No Take Backs Allowed! ;p
Just love the way your brain works!! ......still my favourite blog!
I like your water wheel block just as it is - it's very pretty. Aren't we due for a sneak , peek, preview soon - of all your FWQAL blocks??????
I think the literal thinking is a definite asset! Your garden path is beautiful. As is your pretty waterwheel. I think it's gorgeous. BTW my mind is very literal too. Have you noticed how I couldn't make Cups and Saucers without using a print with (wait for it...) cups and saucers on it!!!
So pretty!!! Love the stories behind all the blocks! I love the fabric you are using!!! Hope you had a great weekend!~
Love your blocks - so pretty and just my colours!
Beautiful blocks! I really love your color and fabric choices. I think they all work great together. That's my kind of garden. hehe.
Gidday Krystyne - love the Flower Garden Path -strolling down smelling the roses sitting on the bench. The Waterwheel the grey spokes of the wheel well they look drab. May I suggest blue, the blue water tumbling down as in the other green spokes, The rest of the grey is fine. Have you got grey with blue in it or vice versa. I guess this is literal but it is a waterwheel which needs more water -even white just came to me.
Just a few thoughts from downunder.

Could you supply that for me? Thank you.
Also, I'm new to your blog and am having difficulty locating older posts on the Farmer's Wife and Mystery Block.
Thank you. Your pillow cases with vintage lace posted on 5/6/13 are absolutely beautiful. No - it's not too early to gift yourself :)
