Hypothetically Speaking ...

... how bad would it sound if I said I finished FMQing this quilt before the holiday laundry was done?

If it doesn't sound too bad, then I confess.

But if it sounds horribly wicked ... forget I said anything.  Kay?

Here's how it turned out.

I did my favored swirly twirly with the occasional flower.

Loving how the soft curves and loops of the top-stitching totally contrast with all the strictly horizontal and vertical lines of the piecing.

And the soft pink thread?  PERFECT for all that white background and over-the-top pinky, flowery wonderfulosityness!

(But really ... was there ANY doubt about that?)

Now to the binding.

I had a bazillion options.  I suppose I should have used up more scraps.  But as much as I love scrappy binding, I thought it would have been too much here.  (Maybe not ... total judgement call.)

I seriously considered a solid white, but decided against that thinking it would look too ... stark(?) against all the busy prints.

So I hummed and hawed my way thru my stash and settled on this happy bubbly dot.

Perfect colors, volume, and just plain ... happy!

Now for the rest of the week I'll be sitting outside on a grassy knoll beside a pool hand stitching the binding watching my kids swim.

Yes, the pink thread is perfect, as is your quilting. Do you have a stitch regulator on your machine?

Hooray for that pink thread!!!!!! I can't wait to see her all finished up! :) And I'm totally cool with you working on a quilt while there's still a holiday laundry pile. Not that I've ever done something like that, mind you. ;)

Love yor FMQ, the pink thread and the little flowers are to die for! Dots are my favorite binding option becase they're giving this sweet special something to a quilt without being to loud;-)
While you sewing the binding on ... ehhh ... watch your kids perhaps you can tell us the big news!?! (BTW it's already on my wishlist for christmas, hehehe)

I want this quilt now too! LOL... everything you do - I want to do - actually I want you to do it for me! LOL... I cannot believe you whipped out that quilting so fast - and love the loopy flowers! (and yes - laundry can wait....) The pink thread is perfect and the binding - good call - I think you were right about not doing a scrappy binding - I do love scrappy binding... but I think what you chose will frame this quilt in much better! :o)

Good choice for binding. It will bring some consistancy to the scrappy body of the quilt. Love the pink thread, I will have to venture out on that limb!

Oooohhhh......your quilt looks absolutely heavenly! I can't wait to see it once it's all done. Keep quilting and just buy new clothes instead of wasting time on the laundry!

I'm back again everyone. I forgot to comment on the beautiful backing!!! I took another look and realized how sweet it is,and I forgot to ask, what kind of batting did you use? Your quilt is beautiful!

The pink thread and dot binding are just right for this quilt. So pretty!
What batting do you use? I usually use warm & natural, but I'm starting to feel like my quilts are too flat. I like the thickness of the batting in your photo.

It looks just beautiful as usual one of the best ones yet that you have done can't wait to see the finished product.

lol! i used to 'take my boys fishing". i was such a good mom! it had nothing to do with the fact that i was immersed in a very detailed cross stitch on 28 ct linen, one that i could only see in direct sunlight!
