sew deerly giveaway

Well hello!  How is your week going so far?  Are you ready for Christmas?  I'm not.  But then again I never am.  And yet Christmas still comes anyway and things always work out. :)

I've been doing a little pre-xmas shopping for myself ...

These pretties came in the mail yesterday.  When I emailed my friend Kerri at Sew Deerly Loved to tell her the fabric had arrived and how much I love it, she offered to do a giveaway for you, my dear readers!  I'm very excited for one of you to win this bundle of sweet Japanese fabrics. :)

Japanese, ATSUKO MATSUYAMA, 30's Collection, Fat Quarter Bundle of 14

To enter this fabulous giveaway to win 14 FQs of Atsuko Matsuyama's latest fabrics, simply leave me a comment saying what Christmas sewing (if any) you are doing, already did or plan to do (no one will know if you don't get to it!).

Comments close Sunday Dec 22nd and I'll announce the winner on Tuesday Dec 24th.

Oh, and one more thing ... everything over at Sew Deerly Loved is 20% off right now so if you're looking for a gift for someone (like maybe yourself, possibly?) check out her shop.  I never leave empty-handed!

I am teaching my grand daughters to sew! They are 8 and 5 and so far they each made a baby quilt for their new baby cousin , bibs, aprons, doll clothes, PJ's, pillowcases ,and now they are working on doll quilts for their great mothers dolls. They still need help of course (the 8 year old needs less help every week ) but they love it. My sewing room is the favorite room in Nana's house and Fridays ( the day I have them every week ) is my favorite day of the week. i have two sewing machines set up on a long table and their 3 year old little sister sets up a toy sewing machine in between them. My husband says I'm running a sweatshop. Love my girlies, love to sew , love passing on the joy of creating.

The fabric is beautiful! Boy have I been sewing! I have completed four doll quilts for the cradles my husband made for our granddaughters, pieced and quilted two quilts for my mother-in-law's great-grandchildren, sewed a messenger bag for my daughter, pieced and quilted four chevron table runners, sewed a bag for my grandson to put his action figures in, and lastly, I am currently working on sewing two scarves for my daughter!

Oh my gosh that's pretty fabric!

I am making some stockings for my folks who are flying out to visit us for Christmas. It's a surprise for them on Christmas morning and it has been really fun to make them. Felt, fabric, beads and sequins - what's not to love?!

Merry Christmas!

We celebrated Christmas last Saturday because that is when the family could get together. My Christmas rush is over and I am so tired! I frantically sewed and knitted clothes for my granddaughter's american girl dolls. So cute but so challenging to sew on knits with my Bernina. She loved everything and I am going to make some more since the rush is over. Those fabrics are simply wonderful. Fingers crossed!

I finished 7 table runners to encourage some young moms and a neighbor. I also finished 2 quilts which are being given to very special people. I also embroidered the word "Blessings" on tea towels for my 3 daughters. The tea towels were edged with crocheting done by my mother quite a long time before she passed away. I had saved the tea towels, not wanting to ruin them, but decided my daughters might enjoy a gift from their Mom & Grammy. I'm looking forward to seeing their reactions!

Well… I have lots of plans and don't think I will get to a one of them… before Christmas that is. BUT! I did have a wonderful time last night with my niece. She's five and we started and finished her first ever embroidery/sewing project! She did so well and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of time with her teaching her how to stitch. I hope this is the beginning of a life long love of sewing and embroidery for her!!! Have a Merry Christmas! Hope you are getting into your new house soon!
