Those Cards I Use For My Embroidery Floss ...

Oh dear.  I'm a very sorry person.

Here's the thing.  I have a TON of DMC embroidery floss.  I've been using it for decades.  I keep them all stored on these little white cards in these nifty little cases - all in numerical order.

Super practical and easy to use whether I'm following someone else's pattern or designing my own.  I love DMC floss.  It works great, it's easy to find and it comes in a TON of colors.

However.

I'm also a huge fan of Lecien fabric and their COSMO embroidery floss.  When I was writing my book it was very easy and convenient to match the COSMO floss colors exactly to the Lecien fabrics I used.

(I made a point of referencing both brands in my book.)

So I got some of these pretty little embroidery floss cards - designed by Lecien - to use as props in the book and a few made the cover. :)

Now, as a blogger I try to make my photos more interesting & pretty by adding little props and things.

And because I've been doing a lot of embroidery lately these COSMO cards have ended up in several recent photos.

It seems I'm not the only one who really likes them because I've been getting asked a lot about where to get them.

Here's where the sorry part comes in.  Sadly, these little cards were discontinued a few months ago and are almost impossible to find now.

I know.

I'm really sorry.

However, I recently got myself a whole bunch of these instead ...

Same design & quality, but they hold THREE skeins instead of one.

I love them.

They look so pretty with the color families in graduated shades.

And they're really handy when I'm searching for that exact right color.

Anyhow, Lecien also makes these ...

And these ...

I got a few of each just because they're pretty.

But I'm using these to organize & store all my COSMO floss.

I did a quick search online and found a few here and here.  They are also listed here, but show as sold out.  Maybe if enough people ask they will order more.

Otherwise, beg your local shop owners to carry them?  I know they are available to retailers through both EE Schenck and Checker distributors.

UPDATE:  Also available at THIS ETSY SHOP!

I'm moving to Calgary in April and would love to know where your favourite shops are. I'm looking forward to finding new places to shop and explore. Thanks.

I also have a huge collection of DMC floss and just buy the plastic things to wind them on. Have you ever heard of Papertrey Ink? It's an online stamp company and a few months ago they came out with a set of stamps that are different versions of a thread bobbin. They also offer a metal die so you can cut them out and make a bunch of them. I bought they set, but haven't actually played with it yet. Just thought I'd put it out there, maybe someone would be interested:)

Oh my goodness, Kristyne! I think we might be SAB (separated at birth)! I too, have all of the DMC floss color wound on plastic cards and stored on the same plastic containers. Do you love sitting and winding new ones on while watching movies like me? I'm such a nerd! Wish we lived closer so you could inspired me more! I'm halfway through the ABC sampler and am going to buy your book very soon! Take care. Looking forward to a good old-fashioned Minnesota snow storm tonight!

Kind regards, Lori

Me too... I do the same thing with my DMC.... I've not tried Cosmo yet... I like the three tiered winders - since the singles are gone... cool how you can see the color family on one card. :o) Loved the PKM placemats too... and how your hubs likes your 'mini quilts' and your daughter's love their placemats so much that they want to hang them on the wall - so sweet! :O)

I don't have a lot of embroidery floss, but these would be neat. I'll keep my eyes open when out and about. Thanks for the heads up.

Those are SO much cuter than the plain ol' white ones I have. It's the little things. :)

Hey Kristyne! I have your little floss bobbins listed in my shop! Would it be okay with you to post them here? Wanted to get your permission first!

I love these.. Great way to keep your floss.. I used to do alot of Cross stitching but only printed because sadly, I don't know how to begin a counted cross stitch. I don't know why but I can not for the life of me figure out how to find the center of the canvas to start . Anyhow, The flimsy card that came with the kits never worked well so I would always end up sorting my floss an using an old plastic box with the empty squares is them which worked but not very handy. I love how yours are. Must make it the floss so much more easily accessible.. Have a great weekend :)

PS. If you have some time can you help me out? Could you drop by my blog real quick and leave your thoughts on my latest post about Blogging Etiquette? Im trying to get some insight from much more seasoned bloggers than myself. Thanks so much :)

I'm a sorry floss nerd too! I have so many DMC threads wound onto cards, labelled, grouped by colour in plastic containers. But I really don't want to use them anymore. I've fallen in love with COSMO. I want one of every colour!! I may get their floss bobbins too.
