so. you think a gray house with white trim is boring?

(Inspiration house in my neighborhood.)

Well then let me try to change your mind by comparing these colours to a man's suit paired with a crisp white shirt.

For example, Exhibit A ...

and Exhibit B,

Exhibit Channing,

 Exhibit 007,

 Exhibit Wolverine

I could go on, you know.  But more examples would just be ... gratuitous.

ZZ Top was right on the money when they wrote this song.

And for the record, I had absolutely NO FUN AT ALL coming up with this compelling argument.

Just sayin'.

Out of curiosity, what color is your house?

My house is gray with white trim and I do not think it is boring. I do have a turquoise from door that really pops!

My house is yellow with white trim, and has cherry red shutters and front door. We just painted it last fall from it's original gray with blue shutters and door.

Our house is boring old beige, but we didn't get to choose the color. I would love grey with white. Can't wait ti see your finished masterpiece!

I live in a very dirty white house with green trim. I would love a gray house with white trim now that I've seen your compelling argument!

Ooo, thanks for the morning eye-candy! I'll never look at a gray house the same way again. ;)

Gray with a white trim? I think I need a little more persuasion... a few more photos of persuasion please!! For the record, my house is pink! :)
August 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterChristine B.
My current house is a boring white. BUT my beloved last house was Shaker gray, with Cape Cod blue trim and white shutters. It was beautiful--you don't have to twist my arm to make me a 'gray believer' but I sure did enjoy the, ahem, persuasive photos!

I love gray and white houses. I would love to have had that color gray but my hubby wouldn't go for it so we have a lighter shade (almost blue to me) with white trim. (I also would have loved a yellow and white house - since it is a farm style house it would have been so cute.)

Ahhhh, ZZTop. Everything is better with ZZTop. My house is white with green trim and a lovely, multi-color dragon in the front yard.
August 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterPaulaK
Welllll now... wouldn't a wolverine with Channing trim be just about perfect... Actually, my house is OLD red brick with white trim. We moved in about a year ago and I have not decided yet which color but my front door has to be painted... Maybe Black, not sure!

The house hubby and I own is red brick with cream trims and siding, in which we are renting to other people right now because we have moved. The house we are currently renting from is a boring plain yellowish cream bricks with yellowish cream trims. Strangely enough, it doesn't look so bad because the owner fixed up the inside really well. Is it so bad that I like this rental house so much better than my own house???? LOL!!!

Any house looks good, as long as it's done tastefully. I LOVE old style houses, and the one you posted is VERY gorgeous!!!

White with black shutters. Much like the James Bond tux of white coat and black bow tie. I'm a fan of the classic.

It's going to be mountain berry red with gray trim and gray and reddish brick

Always timeless.

My house started out burnt orange stain, then blue with white trim, then a funky teal green with orange trim (the colors looked so much better in the can!) then pink with cream trim ( which was nice when i was selling Mary Kay!) and now it is a nice soft yellow with white trim ... Vinyl siding so I guess that is the end of my house of different colors!
August 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJanet
All three of my houses have been grey with white trim! Although they've all had different color shutters - the first had hunter green shutters, the second had burgundy shutters, and my current house has black shutters! I love this color combination and think it looks classic and elegant!

Green, no trim color, but our door is Plum.
August 16, 2013 | Unregistered Commentervicky
Our house is light blue with grey brick and white trim. Our front door is white, but we're thinking about painting it...just trying to decide what colour would look best. I love the inspiration house, by the way. Gorgeous.

Finally!!! You're going to pick something boring. Wait a minute .... Not one of those pictures is boring! You had me fooled for a minute.
August 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterShirley
My house is baby blue outside with a trim called "ocean blue". I am not well enough to repaint the outside, but I painted the kitchen/dining room with a khaki with white trim. I painted my living room with the palest ever pink with white trim. I am happy with all of it, but there are many more areas that need a fresh coat. xx debbie

I love grey...but It's all in the shade of grey you pick and boy did you pick some great shades!!!

Very interesting post today!!! Our home is brick, the color of graham crackers, with a raisin colored front door, looks beautiful. When we built in this subdiovision, they had several choices all coordinated, roof, brick, door colors etc,so it was easy and we just love it.
We have a soft grey home in our neighborhood with a soft yellow front door with a painted distressed darker yellow chair on the porch.

This gave me such a laugh. The reason ir a short little story. I met a guy, dressed quite nicely as he had just come from work. The next few times we met he was dressed nicely. Eh! We can be friends. Then he asked me out on an adventure. The second I saw him in blue jeans and a sweatshirt I knew I was going to marry him. I find suits soooooo boring. Give me a man that can wear a pair of blue jeans. That was 20 years ago. Still married to my guy in blue jeans and still prefer him that way.

Gray & white! And I am the one who is boring, not my house! Lol
August 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterLinda Halcomb
My house is blue with a yellowy cream trim (ugh) and orangy red shutters and stuff. It's NOT going to stay that way. :-)
August 16, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKatie
LOL. I like the gray and white!!! Mine is a sort of light brown stucco. Flat roof. Southwest style with sage green trim. I like the pitched roof and gray and white! :O)
August 17, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBari Jo
Definitely not boring. Though I appreciate your hard-researched efforts to help with the process to confirm this. Very much appreciated ;)
My house is light blue with cream trim. Another good combo. It's tradition in our area that everyone paints their houses pretty colours, and it all looks lovely.

Well, you certainly know how to get a girls heart beating fast in the am. And I'm not talking about the house picture!! Oh yea, back to the house colors--my house is a victorian with sage green siding and dark red and tan trim.

My house is white two story with a red roof you can see for miles. I live on a farm and it can be seen for miles!!

I love your inspiration house! No boring about it and no boring about your fun post. Thanks for shaking things up and giving me a Friday giggle! ~Shari
Mine is yellow with white trim, happy color the guy at the paint store said its called "yellow brick road" : D okay, so where is George Clooney?!?!! His last name isn't so handsome is it?
August 17, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterElaine
My house is the same gray as in the photo. Black window frames with white trim, and a dark gray roof. The front door is turquoise, like the poster listed before me. I think a colored door says "welcome to our home, come on in"! Also, the gray of the house makes most outside plant colors POP. Brightly colored flowers are showcased against the gray...stunning and beautiful.
