spring fabric giveaway

Ah, Spring!  The days are noticeably longer now and the sunshine makes such a difference, doesn't it?

So does pretty new fabric in Spring-inspired colours.

Simply Sweet Fabrics has done it again with these gorgeous new Atsuko Matsuyama fabrics.  I love love love this print with bouquets spilling out of hat boxes and little love letters.

And these ... darling little wreaths.

I decided to make a simple bag to show off the hat box print to it's best advantage.  Three fabrics (plus lining), a bit of lace and a label.  Done, done and done!

I made this bag for my daughter's music books, but instead of walking the 10 steps from my sewing room to the piano to actually measure a book, I just used a craft book that was within arm's reach to make my template.  Unfortunately, this bag ended up just a smidgen too narrow for said music books.  Guess I'll have to keep this pink one for myself and make her another one.  It's just as well.  She prefers the blue.

Simply Sweet Fabrics would like to give one of you ALL SIX of these Atsuko Matsuyama fat quarters (these and these).  To enter for a chance to win, leave me a comment describing your most favourite/successful craft project ever.  This giveaway closes Sunday April 13th and I'll announce the winner shortly after.  Happy Spring!

I love the handstitched sampler quilt I made for my Mum in law. It was three years in the making but well worth it because I know she enjoys it every day.

oh, that is the sweetest fabric. My most favorite craft I have done is to make my daughter in law a pillow cover a month. It was so fun to decided which cover to make each month. I then gave her the stack of covers last Christmas.

HELLO, quilting is my favorite, but in crafts I really like the little gray mouse made of flannel with Christmas red ribbons around there necks! They were about 6" tall and stuffed with poly-fil, with stiff gray button-hole thread for whiskers.

My favorite project would be a quilt that I made for my mother many years ago--the hand-quilting is tiny and the envy of my older self who can't do those teeny stitches anymore. The quilt is made of a patchwork butterfly appliqued to background squares which I did "quilt as you go" . It also has lots of memories since some of them I quilted while on the move from California to Europe.

Not sure if it's my most successful, but certainly my favorite. I made a quilt for my daughter (originally intended to be given to her after birth, but ended up being her 1st birthday present). The colors and design just make me happy and she loves it too.

You can see it here! - http://bebrower.blogspot.com/2013/09/georgias-quilt.html

My most successful project, at least for me, was making City sampler blocks from Tula Pink. Through that I learned quilt math and a scant 1/4 inch seam! So for me learning new things has been wonderful and made other projects possible!

My favourite is a wedding quilt I made for my niece in 2012 using my precious Joell Dewberry 'Heirloom'
April 7, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterGill
It's hard to pick just one, but I needed gifts for the lovely people who helped with my daughter's wedding. I embroidered butterfly squares, and then added strips around, log cabin style, and then quilted the whole thing. with a backing and stuffing, I had the most wonderful pillows to gift, and the recipients love them. Yay!

My favorite project is a cross stitch antique-style sampler that I began when my oldest child was a toddler (she's now 14!) and I'm finally about to finish it as a surprise that I'm going to frame for my husband for Father's Day. It was my first project stitching on linen, and I got delayed a few years (just a few!) when I could no longer see the weave. This spring I discovered and purchased a Mighty Bright floor light with magnifier and I'm now stitching away again and will hopefully finish it soon. I consider this sampler a success as my husband has always loved it and encouraged me to finish it, and I still love it myself as much as the day I first started it. I have to tell you, I LOVE THESE FABRICS. Thank you for the chance to win.

My favorite project is the crochet clothes pin angels I make for Christmas ornaments and give as gifts to family and friends. I crochet the dress, wings and halo with fine crochet thread and put them on round clothes pins. My hairdresser still talks about the one I made for her 3 years ago. Absolutely gorgeous fabric!! Thank you for sharing!

What lovely fabrics!!! Your bag design is super sweet - lucky you get to make two!

My favourite project is usually what I am working on at the time! I have been hand piecing a diamond quilt on my way into work on the train in the mornings. I love seeing it grow and watching the patterns emerge.

My favorite craft project was a Christmas stocking I made for my niece. I make elaborate stockings from brocades, satin, metallic sheers with a hand sewn embellishment on the front. My niece wanted a bright yellow stocking so I set out to find the perfect fabric. After much searching found finally found bright yellow fabrics. When I gave it to her she loved it.

Of all the quilts, garments, ornaments, bags, dolls, and you name it that I've sewn or otherwise crafted over the past 25 years, my favorite is still my oldest son's Halloween costume from when he was four. He wanted to be a scorpion (what? I don't even know; he was four), and I had no idea how in the world I was going to come up with such a thing. I ended up stuffing brown paper lunch bags with newspaper, folding the tops over, and stapling them together so they fit together like a scorpion's tail does. We made the rest from papier mache and craft paint. He even had claws. To this day, he remembers helping me make the thing, and how "cool" that costume was. I remember praying that it wouldn't rain on Halloween night!

And the pink wreath fabric is too, too much! Sooooo pretty!
