spring fabric giveaway

Ah, Spring!  The days are noticeably longer now and the sunshine makes such a difference, doesn't it?

So does pretty new fabric in Spring-inspired colours.

Simply Sweet Fabrics has done it again with these gorgeous new Atsuko Matsuyama fabrics.  I love love love this print with bouquets spilling out of hat boxes and little love letters.

And these ... darling little wreaths.

I decided to make a simple bag to show off the hat box print to it's best advantage.  Three fabrics (plus lining), a bit of lace and a label.  Done, done and done!

I made this bag for my daughter's music books, but instead of walking the 10 steps from my sewing room to the piano to actually measure a book, I just used a craft book that was within arm's reach to make my template.  Unfortunately, this bag ended up just a smidgen too narrow for said music books.  Guess I'll have to keep this pink one for myself and make her another one.  It's just as well.  She prefers the blue.

Simply Sweet Fabrics would like to give one of you ALL SIX of these Atsuko Matsuyama fat quarters (these and these).  To enter for a chance to win, leave me a comment describing your most favourite/successful craft project ever.  This giveaway closes Sunday April 13th and I'll announce the winner shortly after.  Happy Spring!

My favorite/most successful sewing project was bunny rabbit for my daughter's first Easter with a sweet, little reversible dress. These fabrics are gorgeous.

I just finished making a quilted tote bag. It turned out just perfect and I can't wait to make another. Love, love, love these fabrics.

My successful project were bowls made out of clothes line wrapped in fabric. I used Christmas colors and gave them as gifts. They turned out great!

Love the beautiful roses. Atsuko designs them beautifully. My favorite project is whatever quilt baby I'm working on. I love quilting!

My favorite thing is often what I'm working on right now. I have made a couple of very cool things for my mother that rank up there pretty high. One is a Pi Shawl that I knitted (for about 3 years) and the other a quilt that is completely hand pieced, quilted, etc.

I am a newbie to sewing and quilting. I do not have a best ever yet. I would use the Atsuko Matsuyama fabrics to create a splendid project though. Thank you for the giveaway and thank you, Simply Sweet Fabrics, for the wonderful fabric.

I've just finished the Zakka embroidery pouch from Patchwork Please and I love how it has turned out.

My favourite make was the table runner that I did for my parents Golden wedding anniversary. I had only just started sewing so it was quite a challenge, but the best part of it was the response from my parents when they opened it. They were overwhelmed and there were tears, it made it so worth while and I haven't stopped sewing since!

I suppose mine should be the hanging Christmas tree I made for last Christmas. It has been greatly admired and I have had requests to make 2 more for my daughters homes. Thanks for the chance.

My most successful project was a quilted Christmas Tree Skirt. I used bonded batting. It's a "puffy" quilt with wedge shaped, patches of red, green, and white. It is edged with a white, eyelet ruffle on top of red gathered fabric. Both my Mom and sister liked it so much they had me make one for each of them. Then Mom asked me to make an additional one for a raffle item for a local charity that supports disabled children from birth to three years of age. I was thrilled when it was won by my boss! I'd like to make a coordinating quilt, but I've been unable to find fabric that would coordinate.

Usually I'm most pleased with my latest project, simply because I'm always challenging myself, but I admit to loving the simple pencil case pattern of yours. I made one, then several more, then made another much larger (for travel cosmetics) then made a tissue holder ( without a pattern). Of course, I now have several more to make for Christmas for others to give as gifts-ha! I've made cards for years now and I especially love adding them to the fabric gifts.
These fabrics are soo beautiful!! I wish my local fabric shop carried something like this...I adore the blue, but the yellow is so sweet, too, as is... well, you get it.
Oh, and I am so pinching that closure idea on your bag - love it!
Thanks for the chance to win!

I love to make quilts and little handmade gifts for family and friends. My granddaughter, Isla(6 years old) has been sewing with me for 2 years now and she is a natural :) I cherish every moment we spend together and my favorite project is one that she and I did for her little brother Tanner. She was spending the weekend with me and we started Saturday morning off with making cupcakes and while we were baking she told me that her little brother had a bad dream about a scary monster and that she thought if we could make him a cute cuddly monster to snuggle into that he wouldn't have any more scary dreams. I asked her to draw a picture of what she thought that cute monster would look like and we would make a pattern and sew it for her brother. She drew her picture, we made the little monster and just before she finished stitching it closed she said to me,"just a second Nanny", she went to the fabric scrap basket pulled out a piece of fabric, drew a heart on it and asked me to cut it out so she could put it inside the little monster. I can be a bit of a mush ball at times and that was one of my mush ball moments. She kissed the heart for extra love put it inside the little monster and finished her little brothers gift. When it was all done she looked at it, gave it a test hug and said,"he's so cute and mushy that Tanner will cuddle into him and not have any more bad dreams" and then she said, "Nanny!!! his name is Mushy Monster". She was so proud of Mushy Monster and couldn't wait to give it to her brother :) Her little brother Tanner(3 years old) loves Mushy Monster and sleeps snuggled into him every night. Wish I could post a picture. I love to sew and always look forward to my next project but I don't think anything will ever top that project in this grandmothers lifetime :)

I am making a quilt for my son's 21st, he has joined the Army and moved 2000 km away from home so I miss him dearly. Working on this quilt has given me somewhere to put all my love and heartache at missing him, plus I know he will have a little piece of us with him to hold when he feels homesick.

I designed a log cabin and appliqué stripy quilt which looks lovely in every colour combination...

I'm not sure but I make these little baskets in the shape of Reindeer s, bunnies, lambs or cats. They are always adorable and so welcomed by all that receive them.

What an interesting question! So many projects but I think my most successful was an alphabet quilt I made for my god daughter. I designed images and appliques for each letter, it was such fun! Love these fabrics, so cute. Thanks for the giveaway.

A mini quilt I made for my daughter's doll, it has some of my favourite fabrics in it, it was my first ever quilt (although mini) and I loved every bit of the process . . . I'm hoping to make a real size one soon.

And in that mini quilt I stitched my daughters name and age over her own handwritting so it is a lovely keepsake for her too. . .

Love those fabrics !!

Love these mouth watering fabrics and love your blog, always so inspiring, thank you. My most successful favourite make was a patchwork cushion made for a friends wedding on which I embroiderd their names and date of wedding into the design. Thank you for the opportunity to win.

I'm just a beginner in patchwork. And my favorite project - a baby blanket with fish. I thought of it myself, and worked with pleasure. http://kalinkahandmade.blogspot.ru/2014/03/under-sea.html

Apart's from quilts my favourite project I made was a bag for my mothers crochet. I used Ayumi (pink penguin) lunch bag tutorial and made it bigger, it's powder blue, pink, grey and creams! She loves it!

You make really beautiful things, Kristyne! If I had to choose a favourite/successful project, I would pick two. First is a hat I knitted for myself when I was only 10 years old and I thought it was the best hat ever. The second one is fabric envelopes I made last year. They include everything I like - embroidering, sewing, appliqué, nice fabrics and magnetic snap fasteners. :-)

My most successful project ever was a quilt my grandmother and I made together. I made the top and my grandmother quilted the quilt. This was something we did together and she was able to pass on her quilting skills to me.

My favourite thing I've made is the quilt for my eldest daughter, because it was made with love, and is truly loved by her - and put to all sorts of uses! I still have 2 quilts to make for her younger sisters, so these fabrics would be perfect!

I enjoyed making a cot quilt for my grandson who we are expecting in late August. I also made a matching playmat and some bunting with the leftover bits.

Hello,
Just found your blog.. I am inspired by your beautiful work. I love sewing all different kinds of things, so getting off task on a project happens, often... My sister and I decided to make a quilt for my brother when we lived a 1000 miles apart. We each took specific blocks and then put it all together by mailing back and forth. It felt amazing to complete the project with her.

These fabrics are delicious! I love how you made a small and large loop for said bag, since it is meant for hanging. My favorite successful project is a mini quilt I made with Oakshott cottons, of a Totoro in the rain that I made up myself. I sent it away to a happy swapper, but I still use a picture of it as my avatar on IG.

Well.... I’ve just made a darling lilac clutch bag for my mini iPad with a separate bag for its battery charger.
It took me only 30 minutes to make them both and even though this is not my favourite craft project, it is definitely the quickiest I’ve ver made :-)

Gorgeous fabrics!!
A couple of years ago I made a fabulous tooth fairy pillow (my own design) for my daughter with an appliquéd fairy holding up her 'tooth bag'. It's been so successful that the real tooth fairy has been to visit 5 times already.
Many thanks, Alisha.

i am new to crafting in general and am currently trying to teach myself how to sew/quilt, crochet and tunisian crochet (and have a TON of things on my "wish list" to try still), so i haven't done very much yet. but i have made several easter wreaths that i have really enjoyed making and have been proud of when completed. one was small with mini easter chicks around the outer rim with one in the center. the other one had white feather boas wrapped around the form with bunny ears and bunny feet sticking out.

My favorite sewing project (before I learned to quilt) was a Micky Mouse Halloween costume for my oldest son, who was three at the time. It was very elaborate, and he wore it around town for days, eliciting many sweet, funny comments.

My favorite is a quilted pillow I made for my 3-year-old grandson where I embroidered "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs!" utilizing a tutorial from Mary Corbett. He loves finding all the letters of the alphabet and his favorite shape is hexagons which is what the quilted part is made of. Thank you for a chance to win those lovely fabrics.

Well, my best craft project is the one I just finished with my new sewing machine! I just traded up and I absolutely love my new machine. I needed to use it right away and since I needed some time getting to know it I made 2 simple quilted pencil cases for each of my daughters. What a dream to easily sew such a straight stitch...oh, and both my girls are using their new pencil cases. I can hardly wait to finish up and even start some new sewing projects.

Thanks for the giveaway!

So far, probably the snowball star quilt I made as a wedding present for my cousin. Though the nexie baby quilt I'm currently working on may take that spot, soon.

Is a craft project sewing my own wedding dress? Because I do.

Oh my these fabrics are just so pretty! And I adore the sweet little bag you made. My most successful project is a pillow I made for my son-in-law with an appliqued VW bus on it. Pretty much a first for me with applique, and I did a pretty good job of some straightline quilting on it. Plus I made the whole thing with fabric I had in my stash!

My most successful craft project are the American Girl Doll clothes I made for my daughter. A box full of outfits for her doll made her Christmas!
