spring fabric giveaway

Ah, Spring!  The days are noticeably longer now and the sunshine makes such a difference, doesn't it?

So does pretty new fabric in Spring-inspired colours.

Simply Sweet Fabrics has done it again with these gorgeous new Atsuko Matsuyama fabrics.  I love love love this print with bouquets spilling out of hat boxes and little love letters.

And these ... darling little wreaths.

I decided to make a simple bag to show off the hat box print to it's best advantage.  Three fabrics (plus lining), a bit of lace and a label.  Done, done and done!

I made this bag for my daughter's music books, but instead of walking the 10 steps from my sewing room to the piano to actually measure a book, I just used a craft book that was within arm's reach to make my template.  Unfortunately, this bag ended up just a smidgen too narrow for said music books.  Guess I'll have to keep this pink one for myself and make her another one.  It's just as well.  She prefers the blue.

Simply Sweet Fabrics would like to give one of you ALL SIX of these Atsuko Matsuyama fat quarters (these and these).  To enter for a chance to win, leave me a comment describing your most favourite/successful craft project ever.  This giveaway closes Sunday April 13th and I'll announce the winner shortly after.  Happy Spring!

My favourite memory of making a craft project is of when I was a little girl and we would drive up to my grandmother's rambling old white New England farmhouse on the weekends. Usually we were there to ski, but in early spring after the skis had been put away, my grandmother, a wonderful woman who loved crafting, quilting, wool, and weaving would gather us in the old barn that had a corner room with lots of huge windows that looked out over her garden and the hills of Vermont. There we would get the tiny old wood stove going and make the room nice and cozy and would cook lunch over the burners. We always had oreo cookies as they were her favourite. Then we would sit at the table and hand sew, little doll quilts with squares of her fabrics and once a needle case.

Probably the most successful project for me was a very complicated quilt called "Stitches" designed by Veda Wilhite. It has so many large blocks, an then a ton of 4" blocks to fill in. It was sort of like a puzzle. This was a block of the month quilt, and i loved it. The quilting took a long time, as I was just learning alot of different quilting techniques. I still love that quilt as it reminds me of all the stitches I put into it.
Thanks for the giveaway!

My favourite projects is a scrappy quilt I made using all of my Tilda leftovers from past projects. I loge all the fabrics in the quilt and they remind me of previous beautiful projects. Thank you very much for the giveaway! I'm off to etsy!

Oh my goodness, I can't even decide what my best craft projcet has been! All of them have been great accomplishments in their own way ^_^ the one I struggled with the most was making my own curtains for the craft room. I was suffering with apathy because I needed to do it and I couldn't take my sweet time; so the sense of accomplishment was mighty with that project!
My favorite would definitely have to be a quilt. A few years back I pulled some of my favorite designer's patterns of folk art nature and added a few of my own. I made the quilt in pastel prints such as plaids stripes etc. I was very happy with the outcome, since it was the only quilt in almost 40 years that I could almost call my own. I still love it! It will probably go to my first great grand.. Thanks for the opportunity!

One time I made a BIG tote bag out of charm squares. Big enough to stand up on its own. It turned out so well I made 7 more for all my friends who do a shop hop together. It was fun to pile them in the back of the car and see them fill up as we went from shop to shop. Some of the ladies still bring those bags each year.

I have been sewing for years, making everything from simple vests to bridesmaids dresses to quilt tops, but my greatest accomplishment was teaching my granddaughter to sew a tote bag. I am so proud of her.

My most successful craft project? OH my. Ok, I started quilting (term used loosely) making tiny Dresden paper pieced blocks, just 4" square. All hand pieced and appliqued. No don't be impressed, I didn't know what I was doing but I loved the time spent with friends and I so looked forward to our Bee. Time passed and I amassed 500 squares. So I put them together and the quilt was beautiful. When completed I put it in an old pillow case. Then it got lost, totally lost. I thought I must have accidentally given it to Goodwill and gave up looking. It was really the time spent with the ladies that was the real treasure and I couldn't lose that. Fast Forward about 9 months. Our very loved dog was stung by bees and made a beeline (yes pun intended) into his nest where he felt safe. While I was petting him and telling my hubby to get the benadryl I told my hubby that pillow case in his cage looked familiar. I peaked inside, yup it was my quilt. Now the look on his face when I squealed "It's my Quilt" was so worth the wait. He stood there like a guilty school boy stammering, "but but I didn't know". No harm, no foul, I have my quilt now which is nice, it's the time spent with friends that is the treasure. So there, that's my most successful project.

What a beautiful collection. My favourite project was my very first sewing project which was a drawstring bag, that I still use, every day. It always holds my latest knitting project.

I sewed my daughter and granddaughter fabric bento boxes for when they went to work and daycare. They turned out so beautifully that I have been thinking about making another one for myself ever since.

Beautiful little bag! I think my favourite quilting project is probably the placemats I designed a couple of years ago. It was the first time I made something I designed myself and it gave me the confidence to do it again. Thanks for the chance to win.

A queen size pineapple quilt that was raffled to benefit a non-profit. I loved that quilt. It was my first time paper piecing and it was fun, easy & accurate. It wasn't a fast project but a pleasure to make. I bribed a friend with pizza to come over and help me remove all the paper. Tee! Hee! :)

Thank you for a beautiful give away. These fabrics really are sweet!

My most favourite thing I ever made? My son and daughter would be first... ;)
Next I guess would be my hand embroidered Winter Wonderland quilt in reds and whites. Even though I worked on it for two years I never tired of it and everytime I see it displayed in my home it makes me smile.
I would love to win those delicious fabrics!

My most favorite sewing project has to be two purses that I made - one for myself and one for my mother. The pattern said that it would take only 4 hours to make the purse but that wasn't true for me! It took twice as long and that didn't even include the time for cutting out the fabric pieces. I made them out of a batik that has a fall leaves type of design. The purse is really handy and I've used it so much that I really need to make another one now. LOL Happy sewing and thanks for the great giveaway - love those precious fabrics!

had to reply -- not because i expect/want to win, but just to share. my most favourite project was a needlepoint pillow i made and gave to my mother. i took some pix of my little puppy, georgia's dewdrop, in front of the pillow. little did i know that the puppy would die not long after from a defective heart because of poor breeding.

i've framed the best pix of my little fluffer (a bichon frise), which is on my nightstand, as a reminder of a dear pet and a lovely needlepoint cushion. bittersweet memory! the colours in the cushion are similar to the fabrics in your pix. very sweet, indeed -- thank you for allowing me to share.
