spring fabric giveaway

Ah, Spring!  The days are noticeably longer now and the sunshine makes such a difference, doesn't it?

So does pretty new fabric in Spring-inspired colours.

Simply Sweet Fabrics has done it again with these gorgeous new Atsuko Matsuyama fabrics.  I love love love this print with bouquets spilling out of hat boxes and little love letters.

And these ... darling little wreaths.

I decided to make a simple bag to show off the hat box print to it's best advantage.  Three fabrics (plus lining), a bit of lace and a label.  Done, done and done!

I made this bag for my daughter's music books, but instead of walking the 10 steps from my sewing room to the piano to actually measure a book, I just used a craft book that was within arm's reach to make my template.  Unfortunately, this bag ended up just a smidgen too narrow for said music books.  Guess I'll have to keep this pink one for myself and make her another one.  It's just as well.  She prefers the blue.

Simply Sweet Fabrics would like to give one of you ALL SIX of these Atsuko Matsuyama fat quarters (these and these).  To enter for a chance to win, leave me a comment describing your most favourite/successful craft project ever.  This giveaway closes Sunday April 13th and I'll announce the winner shortly after.  Happy Spring!

Kristyne,
I have to say my favorite project is my first surface embroidery project that was inspired by you! It was my baby niece's name embroidered with the daisy chain sampler pattern by Alicia Paulson. I came across your version of the sampler and fell in love. I've been obsessed with your blog ever since. Thank you so much!

A quilt I made for my mother when she turned 80. It had blocks of hand embroidered flowers each surrounded by a matching color and laid among grass and cloud fabric. The border was scrappy. She taught me how to embroider and sew, she loved flowers and being outside in her garden. My daughter inherited the quilt now.

My favorite ever is a quilt made out of vintage sheets. I hand quilted it during a very long, gray winter, and loved the beautiful flowers, a promise of spring. I sure love your blog -- great, beautiful inspiration!! The bag is adorable! Thanks!!

If success is judged by the reaction of the recipient, then my most successful project was a flannel Thomas the Train sleep mat for my grandson. His face lit up when he saw it. Love the nostalgic fabrics in this giveaway!

My favorite project was my first, a fabric-covered box with an upholstered, lace-trimmed lid that I made when I was 11. It will probably always remain my favorite, simply because it was the first thing I did from scratch all by myself, and I've never since felt such a pure sense of accomplishment as I did when I finished that little keepsake box.

I am preparing to piece my first large quilt, which will be used in my guestroom. I think these prints would be perfect!

I can't choose a favourite. So long as it has to do with fabric I love all crafts. Thanks for the chance to win, these fabrics are fabulous.

My favorite craft project was a clown costume I made for my son. His preschool class had a Halloween party and I made him a jumbo polka dot costume with orange and green fabric. All of the edges were trimmed in jumbo rick rack and it included a big gathered double ruffle collar and pointed hat. Needless to say, he was adorable and 30 years later it is one of my all-time favorite pictures of him.

Most successful??... I think the most surprising success was an embroidery block quilt I did for one of my daughters. I had no intention of making a quilt to start with so it was a nice surprise to end up with one. Once I got started with those tiny stitches and sweet little blocks, I just couldn't stop.
My favourite so far is my Tea and Mug Cosy set, using appliqué from some of my favourite fabrics. But of course another favourite is the next one I have in mind ;)
This fabric is stunning... definitely needs looking up!

This are the sweetest prints and most luscious colors! I certainly could put them to good use! When my daughter graduated from college, she was going to be interning at a school and need a professional wardrobe. We lived a distance from each other but she wanted me to sew some garments for her. I told her to go to the fabric store and write down some pattern numbers that she liked and send them to me along with all her measurements. To make a long story short, I made her a wardrobe of skirts, pants, tops ect.,. I sent them to her and they all fit fine and she loved them.

I made a Edyta Sitar Laundry Basket log cabin star wall hanging that took forever because I have 5 children and rarely have time to sit down to quilt. I sewed it whenever I got together with my best quilting friends -- we rent a log cabin in the woods outside of Shipshewana and quilt all weekend. We used to just get together 4x a year but now it's about every other month. The strips were1" so they're pretty narrow (1/2") finished. It is in our family room and I always enjoy looking at it! My husband loves it and it reminds me of quilting weekends with my dearest friends!

Your website has introduced me to the new pastels and they are my new love! Thank you for the drawing as well as all of your tutorials!

I used a cross stitch design my mom made my kiddos in 1987. I put it into the center of a quilt to use at my house for my grand kiddos. They almost fight over it!

My most successful and favorite craft project was a quilt I made for my first grand child. It was the first quilt I ever attempted. I made it in soft girly colors in a pattern that looked like it was woven. It came out beautiful and my granddaughter likes the smooth satin backing.

What a gorgeous giveaway. Love your bag! My favourite was a cushion for a nursing chair for my niece and new baby, the first time I'd mitred corners, had a pretty Helen Phillips cross stitch centre of baby chicks, letters, ribbons and lovely alphabet fabric, envelop back with different buttons. Loved mixing different techniques. Love Pat x

Oh, this is a difficult one to decide.....current favorite is my schoolhouse quilt on my dining room wall.
I started it in a class in the late 80's and finished it a year or so ago. It is traditional solid brick red with
cream solids. My longarm quilter Louise did a superb job on the quilting to finish it off. Love the set
of fabrics and would love to win them.

I took a class on making baby shoes. So adorable but a lot of work to make each pair. I have made many changes to the pattern and process. Can't wait for the baby shower. :)

I made a bunting quilt last summer -- the bottom was a sailboat panel from Sarah Jane's Out to Sea collection, and the buntings were in red, white and blue nautical prints "strung" on red ric-rac. It was my first try at applique and I'm so proud of how it came out.

Not easy to choose a favorite project - I love so many needle arts and quilting. Possibly English smocking is a favorite and I learned to do it when my girls were toddlers. Now, I am lucky enough to smock for my 1 year old grand daughter. I also, may be teaching a class in the months to come. Thanks for the opportunity to win some lovely fabrics! Gee, they might make a nice little dress - especially the ones with the tiny wreaths. Love your blog! You are soooo talented and I love to come visit!

I made bags for my kiddos when they were taking piano lessons--many years ago! They were not this cute or pretty though!

I am working on the binding on two queen-sized quilts. The issue is I need to set-up my sewing machine and table in another room to have enough room to machine stitch the binding on. I just haven't had time to uncover the machine and move it to another room...yet. I love the quilts--just not finishing the binding! ;P

Hello,

My fav thing I have made so far flits between a knitted bunting (just the one flag) that I made last night. It took me three attempts to get it right - first pattern ever and I had to learn 2 new stitches to do it! The other option is the hen night badge I made my friend as it was my first sewing attempt too. I am nervous about trying new things, even though I know the worst thing I can do is bin it and start again!!!!!.

Really love those fabrics, so soft and feminine... The most successful and most favorite? Well I just finished my first large quilt (for Christmas) and it really came off without a hitch, really no snags at all and I used your "continuous binding" method from your book. Perfect!

My favorite sewing project has been the sleep mats I have made for my grandchildren. The mats are a challenge and a bit cumbersome to complete but the children love them. The fabrics for the giveaway are beautiful. I have a new great niece and hope to win to make something sweet for her. Thank you for the chance to win. Mary

At our last quilting retreat I made little strawberry kits for the 8 members in our quilting circle. I then taught them how to construct the little strawberry pincushion. It was so much fun seeing how the other strawberries turned out. They all loved the idea and taking home a finished project that only took 30 minutes to complete.

My most successful craft project was a set of pillowcases I appliqued for my daughter. They were Hawaiian style and had appliqued hibiscus flowers on them. It was successful because she liked them. She has definite opinions about her style and I was so happy they made her happy. Home run for mom!

Thanks for the great giveaway! I think that my most favourite project was a Halloween table runner I made 3 years ago. I hadn't done any quilting for 20 years and decided to start again with a small project. I've enjoyed many projects since then, but just getting back at quilting felt so good!

Oh my... that's actually a difficult question. I've been sewing and crafting since I was a wee girl and have made so many things that I really don't have a favorite. Currently making quilts for my sons, and they are turning out to be some of the most delightful ones I have made.
