Auction #6 - Nesting Dolls Drawstring Bag

Happy Monday!

So I did more packing and purging over the weekend - pleased to report more purging than packing, yay me (I'm really sorry to keep talking about this move, but it seems to be all I do so I don't have much else to chat with you about ... I hope you don't mind.  I feel like you're all my friends and I can go on and on about my silly life and you are just sitting there politely smiling and nodding and letting me get this off my chest.  So thank you for that.

Anyhow, I keep finding little bits and bobs in cupboards long ignored and boxes forgotten ... you know ... things that I once thought were important but now are just quaint relics from my past.  So I got an idea in my head that for all the winning bids I'd could "gift" these relics to you as little surprises in your package that hopefully you will like and use.  'Cause everyone likes surprises, right?

I made this little bag totally on a whim.  The cute decorative ribbon - which I'd bought on impulse - inspired me.  You can read about it here.

The fabric is linen and Atsuko Matsuyama (including the lining fabric) and it measures 5 3/4" x 7 1/2".

This auction ends Sunday June 22 at 6:00 pm MST.  Shipping not included.  (Nesting dolls in the photo also not included.)  I'll send a PayPal invoice to the winning bidder.

Hi!
Okay I have been embroidering for way too many years to count but this project has just caught my eye. I remember when you first posted it after making it and I thought that it was so cute but for some reason I'm just now noticing this. Your embroidered "Nesting Dolls" is so neat. I literally thought that you had written it on there. I usually do letters in back stitch but do you do something else??? Am I missing the biggest embroidery secret of all time here?! I honestly can't see stitches from the pictures!! LOL! Please comment or send me an email if you know what I'm obviously missing!! :)

I think you have been waiting for this move for a while now - personally, I think you have every right to talk about it. Some of us are living vicariously through you. My husband has said we will never move again. Enjoy the process, hoping it doesn't stress you out too much and most especially wishing you many blessings and sweet memories to carry with you and make new. :)

Ditto Emma. Is that a small stem stitch? Please do tell. Hoping we get to see pics of your new home. All the best.

I can sympathize with you! Moving is, indeed, a Major Production Number, especially for those of us who craft. Unless one is uber-organized, just sorting through all the supplies can be an enervating experience just THINKING about it. The pressure of HAVING to do it because of an impending move is a motivator but that usually doesn't make it any more fun. When we moved a year and a half ago, I was racked with guilt (of my own making; my husband's a VERY understanding guy!) for buying so many craft supplies only to put them away helter-skelter and pretty much forget about them. I'm the type who will "get to it eventually to make something out of it" but, in the meantime, supplies languish in my craft room. All that money spent and nothing accomplished from it. Having to purge or, at the very least, sort and re-store items in more efficient containers for re-storing in my new craft room helped a little bit (my new room is much smaller than the old one). At least it reminded me of what I had! Now, a year and a half later, I've discovered more new craft interests, I find myself rescuing supplies from thrift shops (many to sell in my Etsy shop but some for my "future projects"), my craft room has overflowed into the garage, and things are still languishing on my craft room shelves! *Sigh* There ought to be a 12-step programs for crafters like me! At least I'm TRYING to "shop" in my own supplies before buying more. Not successfully, mind you, but the effort's there, tiny though it may be! So I admire your ability to purge and your auction idea's great because it'll put more coin in your pocket for FUTURE craft purchases! But I can't help but wonder...and HOPE...that you're secretly at least a fraction as guilty as I am of craft supply hoarding! *Grin*
