not "goodbye" - more like "i'll be around"

Ok, I'm done with the auction for now.  Thank you so very much for all of your interest, enthusiasm, encouragement and participation.  You've lightened my load and lifted my spirits.  I'll have a few more treasures for you after the move.

I've had many kind requests for a peek into my new house ... cross my heart promise I will show you.  (Like you could stop me!  LOL!  I think every blogger is part exhibitionist in some way, right?)

The kitchen went in a few weeks ago - gorgeous white shaker-style with sparkly quartz and white countertops - and the tilework is nearly done.  I can hardly wait to show you the kitchen backsplash.  Let's just say it's best appreciated by quilters. ;)  You may find a few pins of it over on my Pinterest Kitchen board.  We just picked the hardware for all the cabinetry and we need to go shopping for light fixtures.  We're taking 3 chandeliers and my 2 Restoration Hardware fixtures with us, but there are still the pendants for over the kitchen island and a few others to find.  I'm stressed about that.  Garage went up last week.  Still a ton of little things, but they'll all get done.  Some things like the stone on the outside, the back deck, and probably the stone on the fireplace may take another month or so to finish.  But because we already sold our house and we need to vacate by July 31st, there's no turning back.  (I think I just heard the faint sound of a freight train coming my way.)

Oh, and did I mention I was just diagnosed with dangerously low iron levels?  As in like I almost need a blood transfusion low.  No wonder I'm finding all this so overwhelming and difficult.  If I added up all the minutes I've spent just standing in a room, staring at all the things that need to be packed, I'm sure it would total more than the actual packing time.  I owe my mom and sister big time for coming from out of town to help.  I'm on supplements now, but I'm not feeling much different yet.

Anyhow.  I'll try to pop in now and again over the next little while ... even if it's just to bend your ear, lean on your shoulder, or perhaps share a few photos of the chaos. ;)  I'm not sure how the whole internet connection stuff will go.  I know there will be a period of time I won't be able to say hi, I just don't know how big or small that window will be.

Oh, and by the way, thank you also for your amazing response to my "Little Girl Purse" pattern!  I knew you'd like it. :)

How exciting and stressful to be moving! It seems like many big things in life are that way. I hope you are feeling better very soon and can relax a bit (I know that last bit won't really happen - but one can dream can't she....?)
I will truly miss seeing new posts from you for a while. I confess, I check every day for something new, interesting, inspiring and funny. In my world you have nothing else to do but post new projects and ideas just for me....(smile). I guess I will live in the archives for the next while. I will enjoy every minute!
Wishing you blessing and health in your transition. I will remember you in my prayers.

Good luck for your move. I can really empathise I moved twice last year and once this year!! The move this year was from Switzerland to England, so it was a tough move! I really hope all goes well and that you feel better too. It is not a good thing to be feeling low and lacking energy when there is so much you will want to do. Just take it one step at a time.... everything will come together in its own way!! Hugs xxx

Always take your iron tablets with a glass of juice as Vitamin C helps the absorption of iron. Do you drink a lot of tea as that inhibits absorption? Chocolate with a high % of cocoa solids is high in iron.

Oh, Kristyne, poor you! I hope you'll feel better soon and get the iron thing worked out. I'm always low on iron, too, and was told it's a woman thing.
I hope for a billion pictures of your new home and hopefully you'll start with the most important thing, your sewing room, of course;-)
Wish you a smooth move and chocolat never hurts, too!

Check with your doctor to see if you can get an iron IV. I had very low iron a few years ago and my doctor arranged this for me and it was great! It will take ages for the supplements to make a difference and they are so hard on your stomach too! I had iron shots for a while but I don't think they do that here (Ontario) any more.. Its worth asking! Hope you recover well too.

Kristyne-
Moving is so stressful but building a house, I think, is even more so. Been there done that. It would take a lot of talking and some excellent project management for me to ever build again. Please keep in mind that it will all get done in the end and if you need to take extra day to rest, then you must take it. Stay safe and hugs to you! ~Shari
Sending you good thoughts and best wishes, Kristyne!! Hope you feel better soon. We're going to miss you, but look forward to seeing your new home. Take care xxxxxx

You are having such an exciting, stressful time. Prioritize, my sweet:

1. Take care of yourself - you'll be of little help if you end up in the hospital
2. Take a deep breath - enjoy the ride and try not to stress to much.
3. Deligate - Sisters and moms are amazing and helping, deligating and taking over when we are overwhelmed and stresse out.
4. Take care of yourself - I know I already said that, but please take care. I promise we will all be here when you get back to us and are settled.
You will be in our thoughts and prayers :)

Get well soon. I know how hard this can feel because I went through it myself a few years ago after have three major orthopedic surgeries in 7 months. Concentrate on you, and how important it is to get back your strength and independence.

I will be saying prayers for you and sending many positive thoughts your way. Your blog has always been an inspiration to me. I look forward to your return.

I went through the super low iron/low blood level thing in June of last year. I had been feeling exhausted all the time and one day when I almost fainted, my dh and son convinced me it was time to see a doctor. When they did blood tests they actually redid them thinking that it had to be a mistake. But it wasn't a mistake. When they got the second set of tests back I got a call to go in immediately and they sent me from the doctor's office right over to the hospital to have an emergency blood transfusion. I still need to take an iron supplement every day. Luckily I've discovered a liquid iron supplement that doesn't upset my stomach or cause any other problems. It's called Floridix: Iron + Herbs. There's also a gluten free version for those who can't have any gluten at all. I just thought I'd mention it in case it might be useful to you or to another of your readers. Take care of yourself.

And good luck with your move! I can't wait to see the pictures of your new home.

I am also anemic. Talk to your doc about changes to make in your diet, and think about cutting back on tea and coffee if you drink them. I've-- very reluctantly-- cut coffee down to one cup a day. Oh, and I also take a liquid supplement like Super Mom recommended. MUCH easier to digest.

Get your rest, and delegate half your to-do list to those who can do.

Happy moving! We're all looking forward to your return!

Best wishes and hugs and love to you, K.! I truly HATE to move, so I know how very overwhelmed you are right now. Hoping that everything will go smoothly, and that you will be feeling much better very soon. This will all be over before you know it! :)
Take care of yourself and the BEST of luck with your move! This, too, shall pass.

Will miss your posts Kristyne, but so glad you're taking a little time off. I'm starting a remodel on my kitchen and I'm going right now to find you on Pinterest! I also chose Shaker-like cabinets and a beautiful Quartzite for the counters. Can't wait to see your choices. Take good care of you! And all the best on a very exciting time. Wish I could bring you meals and help you with the move.

I've had dangerously low iron levels several times in my life, and I'm about to give you some advice, unwanted or not. First, find yourself a hematologist(blood doctor) RIGHT NOW!! He or she can give you an iron infusion, which is an iron solution given by IV over a couple hour period. You may need more than one, but it works INSANELY FAST!! No taking horrible iron supplements for months with all the horrible side effects, while you continue to be extremely tired and run down. It works so much better too. You also need to find the cause of the iron loss, so it won't continue happening again and again. It could be something serious, but mine was just an extremely heavy menstrual flow. I have felt so much better since I started seeing the hematologist, and haven't had any more problems with it. You're moving, and I know you probably feel like you don't have time, but truly, you don't have time not to. Sorry for the maybe unwanted advice, and more than likely your doctor won't want to refer you, but insist, please. cdahlgren (at) live (dot) com

Hi! I agree with the posts above, but suggest taking the liquid supplements twice daily with meals, better for tummy, and the liquid, suggest putting your amount into a shot glass, add some citrus juice, stir and sup with a straw to protect your teeth from staining! After your move, agree to follow up with your doc to see the cause. Ensure you are waiting a source of he I iron daily, ie dark or red meat! That is the body's source of he I iron for your hemoglobin!
Good luck with the move, just did that, but will be worth it in your NEW HOUSE!
Take care, Leslie

I can't wait to see pictures of your beautiful home. Please take care. You don't mention if they've discovered a reason for the low iron. I, too, became severely anemic years ago and did require a blood transfusion. Had even been to doctor for tiredness and shortness of breath. He didn't do bloodwork but determined it was anxiety (always the reason for shortness of breath in a woman, he said). Anyway, after having two doctors do nothing to discover the cause, I switched to new doctor and did research on internet. We finally figured out that an antibiotic I had been taking was known for preventing iron absorption into blood stream. I had a fibrotic tumor causing very heavy periods and that combined with the lack of iron absorption created the problem. So PLEASE look at other things going on in your body and research any meds you might be taking. Also for anyone who might be prone to chewing ice, please be aware that this is a clear indication of low iron. Sorry for the long text but I wish someone had told me what I now know. Keeping you in my prayers and looking forward to your future beautiful pieces created in your new home!

Oh my goodness - will pray for you to feel better quickly and back to your old self again soon! Hope you can get some rest in the midst of all going on around you and so thankful you have wonderful family to help! I wish I lived close - would bring you some meals. I will pray for you. Hang in there! xoxo Looking forward to hearing from you later, when you are feeling better. Take care!

Good luck with the move, and take all the rest you need... Have you considered testing for coeliac? Low iron was how mine was identified, cutting out gluten has improved my situation enormously, plus pacing myself as i used to crash and burn a lot.
take care xx

Sorry to hear you are not feeling great. I hooe the pills begin to do their job for you soon and you don't need anything more. All the best for your move into your new home. It's a crazy time moving, we moved twice in the year last year and it was hectic! It will be worth it though, I'm sure. Take care.
What a horrible time to have low iron levels! Moving is such demanding work, and I imagine you just want to pull the covers over your head most of the day. Hope you feel better soon.

Good luck with the move and take care of yourself and follow the first rule of an ongoing condition that causes fatigue: never stand when you can sit!!
July 18, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterArchiethewonderdog
Low iron levels are so common for women (for obvious reasons) that I don't know why doctors take so long to reach a diagnosis. During my lady week, I always craved red meat. Steak, in particular. However, I truly believe that once you and your family are together in your new home, you'll feel better. The stress of moving is exhausting in the best of times, let alone shaky health times. Feel better soon!
Now, because you'll be so busy not bloggin', I'll have to find something else to do. Nevermind the housework, it's time to quilt! I have 3 WIP's to work on- yay !
As with everyone else, I am eager to see your new digs - sewing room in particular!
Oh, and many thanks for the wonderful advice from your readers! Very helpful, indeed.
