aftermath

Wow.  That snowfall was something else.  I think it was about 25cm (10") in 2 days.  There were power outages like crazy.  We lost power in our house for about 6 hours.

Today, the sun is shining and it's delightfully warm.  One would be hard pressed to believe we had that much snow just a few days ago ... unless you went outside.  I don't think there is a street in Calgary that doesn't have fallen branches on the road, sidewalk, front yards.

Poor trees!

Is this crazy weather for soon? I'm taking a 32 week Disclipeship Bible Study class where attendance is mandatory for "graduation" from the class. You have to graduate in order to take following classes. The pastor who is teaching the classes told us that we are supposed to have a WET (and probably cold) winter here in Tulsa, Oklahoma according to the Farmer's Almanac. He said they are 80% accurate. So, we may have classes canceled during the time frame. We follow the school calendar. I imagine if school is closed, then we will have our classes canceled, too. We had a late, but hot summer. Now, it has tuned cool early. Of course, that can change at any moment here. It can be hot until late October even. We never know here. It's a crap shoot.

They always say 'Indian Summer' comes after the first frost - with such a 'BIG Frost' maybe you will have a long hot spell yet. Wishing it for you! It is sooo sad to see all those trees down though!

It is sad how 20 years of growth on a tree is snapped off with a few hours of heavy snow fall! My sister sent me pictures of her street. Definitely changed the landscape of the city!

One reason I like reading your blog is simply the VAST weather differences. Here in the Dallas, TX area we are celebrating a "cold" front that broke us out of the high 90's and 100's and we actually had temps drop into the 60's at night. Snow in September would be absolutely unheard of! Not to mention 10 inches would shut us down for days if it fell at once and is actually more than we expect to receive in an entire year. So anyway, thanks for sharing about the weather as well as all the pretty things you make :-)

we went from high 80s and humidity to low 60s in 48 hours ... I am not ready for cold weather or snow! I'm still trying to recover from last winter and apparently we're in for another bad one! Sorry for the damage to the trees. I read on another blog that parts of Montana got a pretty devastating storm as well - with lots of tree damage. Going to be a wild winter, I think.

So happy that things are sunny and warm for you now! Here's to hoping that it will stay that way for awhile! :)
