Farmer's Wife Quilt Along Week 8
Red & Yellow.
#5 - Bat Wing
Hmmm. I think this block might be a bit too red for me. I'm trying to use red only as an accent here and there. In my mind's eye, I see this quilt finished with white sashing and red posts. But I'll wait until I have several more blocks to see if this one will work.
#55 - Linoleum
I have ALWAYS loved saying that word. Linoleum.
Li-no-le-um.
LinOOOOOleummmmmm.
I dare you to stay in a bad mood after saying it 5 times in a row ... but you have to say it in your worst foreign accent like Eliza Dooilittle or Jimmi Hendrix or Crocodile Dundee ... Bela Lugosi works particularly well. And you have to do it in front of someone else.
No, seriously!
They'll either think you've gone banana-nuts-crazy and start backing away slowly while looking for the nearest exit OR pee their pants laughing at you.
Either way, their reaction will prob'ly make you laugh.
Sigh. I shoulda been a therapist ... ;)
Lisa, thank you for reminding me of this! It must have been hiding in my subconcious somewhere. :)

Believe me Kristyne I would need to say 'linoleum' a number of times as it has rained all day yesterday and has continued to do so today!!
Thank you for the lovely little bursts of yellow to brighten my day. :)

Ok, so I like the red...especially the red and yellow....I am supposed to be working, it is Monday and all, but I just can't get in the mood so I decided to pop on over and see what you were up to. I received my FWQ book in the mail and it is really a pretty cool book. My dad and his two sisters were raised on a farm in North Dakota back in the 20's to 30's and hope to ask my aunt if my grandma ever read the magazine and if she ever told her to or not to marry a farmer. Thanks for helping me stay off-track today :) Lisa in Texas
I love your bat wing because I don´t see it as a bat wing more as a neatly tight present! And your linoleum? I love the centre fabric and I hope I don´t have a strange accent altought I´m german (btw hardest word for me is through five times in a row;-)

SO adorable!!!
Lisa :)
Do you know that linoleum was invented by an Englishman? Love the blocks - I like the red, but if you think it's too much, you can always tone it down with your choice of quilting thread.
La, la, la, la, the red is Lovely! La, la, la, la, you're Looney tunes! La, la, la, la, you're an inpiration! La, la, la, la, I Love reading your blog! La, la, la, la, this song is Ludicrous. La, la, la, la you make me Laugh out Loud!
Okay, I'm done but it's on YOUR head that I will be La, la, la, la(ing) the rest of the day! You're such a silly Canook! ;0
Oh my goodness, you are too cute!! I LOVE that word too- even with out the accent, it's fun :) And your blocks are just incredible!!! I LOVE the linoleum one- it is one of my very favoritest I have seen so far :) I am trying to figure out fabric still- ugh- and you have given me some wonderful inspiration!! Thanks!
Kristyne, red is my fav color (along with purple), so in my opinion, there can never be too much! You are right, though, you'll have to see what it looks like with more blocks done.....As always, your blocks are beautiful :)
I´ve just watched the video si funny! You really made my day!

Red is my favourite colour, so knock yourself out with it! In my opinion, you can do no wrong with red :)
Gosh you've got some pretty fabrics. These blocks look lovely.
your blocks look beautiful - and the red is just right
I like the red and yellow together. Very pretty. I'm using Fresh Cottons to make my blocks and so far I've liked the blend of colors but then I see blocks like these that are so nice and bright and pretty and I hope I didn't make the wrong choice. These are lovely.
Hello!
I'm reading your blog. All of it. From the beginning. I do this sort of thing. I'd usually wait til we were in the same 'time zone' to say hello, but really, you crack me up and I just wanted to say thanks. Thanks!
The contrast between the delicate prettiness of your header and your projects and you sense of humour is brilliant.
So Greetings from a wet Scotland and I'll see you again as I read on.
Cheers,
AJ
