It's a mystery to me ...

why not EVERYONE loves to do this sort of thing.

Seriously.

Making stuff - 'specially pretty stuff - is THE.best.therapy.GOING!

I've had a few questions about the size of my blades and the circle for this project.

I made this template for myself ...

But both Amy and Anne used this nifty tool.

And my circle for the embroidery finished at about 6" so cut it 6 1/2" in diameter.  That said, I'm not using an embroidery hoop so I don't need extra fabric.  If you like using a hoop, I'd suggest cutting a 10" square, tracing the design, stitching and THEN cutting out the 6 1/2" circle.  Make sense?

I've never understood, nor will I ever understand, why everyone doesn't enjoy making stuff. Pretty stuff, ugly stuff, stuff that makes their hearts' sing, all kinds of stuff. It's a mystery. :-)

Thank you for sharing your blade measurements.

I wanted to share something with you, since your blog and posts have been so fun and inspirational to me. My local quilt shop is liquidating all of their supplies and quilting fabric after 20 years in business. They have been reducing the prices over the past month and we are now down to $5.99/yard for fabric (lots and lots of MODA, but many other manufacturers as well)) and 40% off most everything else that they sell (all kinds of notions, kits, books, patterns, etc...). If you are interested, visit www.itsastitchonline.com. I have the same embroidery pattern from Amy's website and I ordered my Cosmo floss earlier this week... should be in today! Squeal!

Aren't these Dresden's addicting? After doing 12 blocks it looks like I need to make one more with this sweet embroidery.

Hi Kristyne! I have never commented on your blog before although I read it almost every day. It's great and you stitch so beautifully. Thank you for posting the dimensions of the template you used for the Dresden Plate, I am hoping to be able to try it out. However, I have another question which I expect you have had before (probably before I started following the blog) which type of pen do you use for marking/tracing your embroidery patterns? At the moment I just use a pencil but I find that often by the time I get to the last parts of the embroidery the pencil has rubbed off the background fabric which just ends up looking a little greyer than it was to start with! Thanks for your help. Christine :)

Mystery to me. One quilt teacher who knows we students all travel at our pace. Starts off the term with a 'small project' this term it is an applecore pincushion with running stitich on the top. Last term it was a Naive Sampler never planned on doing one in my life and just stem stitich was the only stitich used. The big projects were one of 'ten minute' blocks. This term cas choose between Carpenter's & Mariner's star and either make a cushion or a quilt.
So we end up with hand piecing or needlework plus machine quilting.
What fun.

WoW!! So beautiful, How great you held on to this fabric as this is the perfect project for it. I agree, I love "hand" anything, so relaxing. Looking forward to seeing more. Great job!
