"I Pick These"

I found a bunch of these little 2&1/2" charm packs in my sewing room during a long-overdue tidying and I asked my girls which ones they liked best.

School is out soon and I've been thinking a lot lately about when would be a good time to start teaching them how to use a sewing machine.  I decided this would be a great way to spend those rainy and lazy summer days.

I thought these precut squares would be the perfect jumping off point for them because they're cute, little and already cut - no rotary blades required.

My pink-loving 10 year old chose these "Posy" packs.  If I could have placed a bet in Vegas on which ones she'd pick, I'd be a millionaire right now.  Love that kid.

My little sweetheart demonstrated re-MARK-able patience waiting for her blogger mom to take these pictures, which had to be done BEFORE she could start sewing.

Priceless time with them making memories! And if they are anything like their talented mama, they will be amazing with needle and thread. Please post what they make - would LOVE to see their creations! :O) (I loved the embroidery one for your anniversary long ago.....)

I "pick these" too! I love POSY. Alas, I haven't been able to make anything yet with my bundles. I can't wait to see what your budding prodigies will make though!

Having to wait for 'the photo' made me smile. :) It's like when I get asked if its ok to eat a cake and my answer is ' don't be ridiculous I haven't photographed them yet' !!! :)

Lovely post today! When my daughter was 3 years old, she wanted to sit at my sewing machine. I got out a couple phonebooks (does anyone remember those?) for her to sit on, put the peddle on a few books and let her have a go! Incredibly, she sewed a straight seam! She now is a senior in college majoring in Costume Design and has 2 plays under her belt as Head Costume Designer.

Keep teaching!

Best,
Sheila
