Creative Teamwork

My daughter & I finished the Anniversary stitchery.  What do you think?

I confess to searching Amy's blog for some ideas and found this one ...

The cute "Washi Tape" idea on the corners of her quilt got me thinking about the seam allowance here which hanging by a thread ...

... LITERALLY!

I thought adding some washi tape applique would help, and be a cute little detail too.

I presented the idea of adding tape to all 4 corners but I was vetoed.   At least she allowed 2.

AND she liked the buttons.

Maybe when she moves away to college I'll sneak on the other 2 tapes and hopefully she won't notice.

Here it is "in situ" in my favorite corner of the kitchen.

Livens up the place, that's for sure!

"Thank you Sweetheart for your beautiful handmade gift for Daddy & me.  We love it and will treasure it forever." ox

Absolutely precious, and you are so wise to encourage her in her handwork!

What a beautiful keepsake......it's so lovely to see our daughters following our crafty footsteps isn't it?

I just love to watch my daughter learning to knit, even if she gets a little frustrated when she drops a stitch!!

Happy Crafting together.

What a great keepsake, and not only that but the time you and your daughter shared to make this memento will be some of the loveliest memories.

That is just lovely! So sweet that you and your daughter were able to create it together.

I was wondering if it would be alright if I pinned an image of it? I have a young sewing student who mentioned wanting to make an anniversary gift for her parents at our meeting this month and I'd love to show this to her as a possible idea for her project.

It's beautiful! The washi tape is a perfect addition as well as hiding the skimpy seam allowance!

It's adorable! And love it in your kitchen. Can I ask a question? I'm loving the Strawberry Fields mystery and started because of YOU. Now I realize that it's hard finding the fabrics to finish it up. I opted for the pink background w/the random strawberries for the borders. Didn't like the gray floral. But now I'm not caring for the Vanilla Strawberry blooms (the one shown on the finishing kit) for the vertical sashing. Any suggestions? This fabric has been around awhile and I'm getting panicky.

*sigh*.... sniff... that is beautiful!!!! I love it! And I LOVE the memories you two made as mother and daughter! Priceless! Question for you - how do you hang up cute wall hangings like that? Any chance you could post info on how you do that? Did you make a sleeve? Pockets for a dowel? What if you are given something without a sleeve but you want to hang it? Yours hangs so perfectly - everything you do is perfection! Thanks for sharing this family heirloom - it will be one that your great great granddaughters will be talking about some day! I would love to have something like that that generations before me had made!

Washi tape. Something else to research. I have so much to learn! And I really enjoy doing some of that on your blog. And doing just as you planned? There's an accomplishment I would love to live up to!

A great quilt for that corner of your kitchen!

Looks great. But sorry, I'm with your daughter on this one, I like the tape on two corners rather than four :)

That is just so beautiful, your daughter will be so proud of it. But please please don't alter it. I made something for someone once and she decided to alter it, it wasn't much but it still hurt (especially as she told me she had done it) accept it for what it is, it may not be quite how you would have done it, but it's her gift to you. Hugs
